March 2015 Report April 13, 2015

Since the visit of the American team to India in February, our brethren have continued their work in the Lord’s kingdom with dedication and zeal. In recent months, the number of violent acts against Christians has increased throughout the country, including the states of Andrah Pradesh and Telangana, where the majority of our congregations are located. Although none of our brethren have been directly affected, we would solicit your prayers for their continued safety, as well as improved circumstances for promotion of the gospel throughout India. As we reported last month, one of the short-term goals established following this trip was to place water wells and baptisteries at more rural locations of the church, prioritizing which village was chosen based on where water was the most scarce. We have had a good response to this need and enough resources have been collected to date to complete over half of the goal of 17 water wells and 36 baptisteries. Other donations have been committed which will bring us close to completing our target. A water well and baptistery have been completed at Stantanpuram, as well as a baptistery at Alipore. Construction of baptisteries and wells is currently underway in several additional locations. As always, we, along with the brethren in India, wish to convey our gratitude for your generosity and support. The water well and baptisteries will be a great encouragement and blessing for each of these congregations of the Lord’s church. In January of this year, we related the story of one of the oldest and largest congregations in the Kurnool area, Chanagondla. When this group of saints outgrew their building, they decided to remove the old facility and construct a new larger one. It took years of dedication, saving and sacrifice, but this congregation was able to bring their new building close to completion with their own resources. Roofing, flooring and finishing work is all that is needed to finish this structure. We are so thankful that enough funds have been collected here to help this congregation of over 350 members achieve the goal of completing their building. Praise be to God! Additionally, construction of the church building at Alipore is progressing well, and the congregation hopes to have the project complete before the monsoon season begins in June. During the last month, we have reports of 26 souls who have obeyed the gospel and have been added to the church, each receiving a Bible of their own. The medical needs of 2 church members were also addressed. The brethren received requests to take several additional destitute kids into Christian homes for care. All of these youngsters have been covered with sponsors except for one. This one child requires $50 per month support and we are hoping to identify a donor to assist with this need. It is so sad to think about children in such devastating situations. But how wonderful when we can, not only ensure that they will be cared for physically, but more importantly, that they will be raised in a Christian environment with an emphasis on the spiritual. We will continue to mention our long-term goal to purchase land for a church building in the city of Vijayawada. As we have previously reported, effort for this project began last summer and we presently have $10,000 toward that goal. If you would like to help with this need, we encourage you to do so. Thank you for your support of Church of Christ India and may God

bless you in your endeavors for Him.
