Spring Plays

High school spring plays are right around the corner! This spring, both plays have a hearty dose of humor and heart. Andover Central High School is performing The Addams Family April 17-18 at 7:30 p.m. and April 19 at 2:30 p.m. The story takes the Addams family we all know and brings them to the current era. Wednesday has fallen in love with a “normal” boy named Lucas. Lucas brings his parents to dinner to meet the Addams clan, and a dinner with the Addams never goes as planned. The cast includes Grant Schoonover as Gomez Addams, Olivia Jacoby as Morticia Addams, Julia Tarbox as Wednesday Addams, Mason Jolicoeur as Pugsley Addams, Jonathan Clark as Fester Addams, Claire Calvert as Alice Beineke, Alex Reida as Lucas Beineke and Sam Walter as Mal Beineke. About 60 more ACHS students make up the rest of the cast, crew and pit orchestra. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. They can be purchased starting one hour before each show or reserved in advance at www.achs-theatre.com. Andover High School is performing Leaving Iowa April 10-11 at 7:30 p.m. Leaving Iowa is the story of middle-aged writer Don Browning traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father’s ashes. During the roadtrip with his son, Don recalls the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood. This touching and funny play will appeal to anyone who ever endured the revered and reviled summer family car trip. The cast of 14 led is by Nick Lindhardt as Don, Kellie Rieg as Sis, Chris Reardon as Dad, and Asia Haque as Mom. The crew of 30 is led by Stage Manager Gabby Stone. Tickets are $4 for students and seniors and $6 for adults. They can be purchased starting one hour before each show or reserved in advance at www.ahstheatre.org.
