Marine Corps Marathon Transfer Program to Open June 17 Runners registered for the 40th MCM can officially transfer entry to another runner QUANTICO, VA (June 15, 2015) – On Wednesday, June 17, the Marine Corps Marathon will open the MCM Transfer Program enabling registered participants, not able to complete the Marathon on Oct. 25, the opportunity to officially transfer their entry to another runner. The MCM Transfer Program is available at www.marinemarathon.com through Aug. 31. “While the MCM hopes that all those registered for this year’s event will train for, and complete the Marathon, circumstances can arise including injuries, deployments, business trips or family obligations,” explains MCM Director Rick Nealis. “An official transfer between runners helps alleviate the illegal switching bibs, which can hinder results and the presentation of MCM Awards.” To initiate a MCM transfer, runners registered for the 40th MCM must complete the online Transfer form and include the new runner’s information. The original runner will receive an email confirming the transfer request has been received, while the new runner will be sent an email inviting them to register for the 40th MCM. All transfer requests must be submitted online. Only the new runner will pay a fee of $50 to complete the MCM transfer. The original runner will not be charged. MCM registered runners also will not receive a refund for the initial registration fee of $125. Any monetary transactions regarding the MCM entry fee must be handled between the two transferring runners. In addition, MCM entries may not be transferred more than once. Runners can locate each other on the MCM Facebook page. MCM to MCM10K Transfer Those registered for the 40th MCM could also transfer their participation to the MCM10K presented by Aetna. There are limited entries available for this event annually hosted in conjunction with the MCM. To transfer from the Marathon to the MCM10K, registered runners can look to the Transfer page of the website. Although there are no additional fees to transfer from the MCM to the MCM10K, there also are no refunds for those who initially registered for the full marathon. Runners registered for the MCM10K will not be able to transfer from that event to the Marathon. The MCM10K is currently open for online registration at a cost of $50 for ages eight and above at www.marinemarathon.com. The MCM10K will start on the National Mall in Washington, DC and finish with the 40th MCM on the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA. More information about the 40th MCM is available at www.marinemarathon.com. The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is voted “Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic” and “Best Marathon for Spectators.” The MCM honors the dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Also known as “The People’s Marathon,” runners from all walks of life participate in the MCM, the largest marathon not to offer prize money. The 40th MCM, sponsored by Arlington County, Brooks, Aetna, Hyundai and Navy Federal Credit Union will be held on October 25, 2015 in Arlington, VA. No federal or Marine Corps endorsement is implied. #RunWithTheMarines ### 25:15
