Marissa Oosterlee Airbrush Workshop Realism Class
Nature is the most beautiful and complicated thing to render. Wouldn’t it be nice if you control nature on your canvas? With a proper technical foundation in art, you can be artistically free and do with colors and shapes whatever you want. Learn how to work with color, shapes, contrast, reflections, textures and create perfect transitions. I will give you the tools and guide you through any process. Every obstacle is a new challenge that you will be happy to take. During the 4-day Master workshop you will learn how to do all of this with your airbrush and other tools like brushes and pencils to create your own style or to make the finishing touch on your photorealistic portrait.
We start with the most important theory and make sure you can put this into practice. The workshop is not about just copying pictures, but gives you a good insight on how to use these techniques in your advantage to improve any form of art and create your own world with it. You will also learn how to clean and maintain your airbrush and hold it without any cramps. Your body is the most important tool, so we need to work on that too. In our Dutch studio, we will work with adjusted airbrushes, so you can follow these days without any pain after working for many hours. During foreign workshops there will be a chance to use/try them as well.
Content of the workshop in short: • How to build up a portrait from scratch and complete a painting including detail and accurate highlights. • How to put every day materials into magical tools to paint with. • Everything about color and how to work with it. • Rendering textures like skin, lips, eyes, hairs, jewels etc. • Important erasing and cuing techniques. • Freehand techniques • Working with freehand shields • Blending your airbrushwork with other mediums like color pencils and brushwork. • How to observe and decipher nature so you can paint it.
