Math 7B Course Overview Math 7 will explore topics that you’ve seen before, but in greater depth. These topics include connecting measurements to numbers in equations, interpreting the measurements, examining geometric shapes in order to measure real-world objects, and graphing techniques which provide context for mathematical relationships. All these tools are important, since you’ll encounter them throughout your studies in mathematics.

Course Goals By the end of this course, you will be able to do the following:      

Estimate and calculate percentages of various quantities. Describe how measurement relates to units used in equations. Use geometric shapes to measure and model objects in the real world. Analyze relationships between geometric shapes and their individual properties, such as angle or side length. Calculate simple probabilities. Graph equations to reveal information in unique and useful ways.

General Skills To participate in this course, you should be able to do the following:   

Complete basic operations with word processing software, such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Perform online research using various search engines. Use a calculator.

For a complete list of general skills that are required for participation in online courses, refer to the Prerequisites section of the Plato Student Orientation document, found at the beginning of this course.

Credit Value Math 7B is a 0.5-credit course.
