CLOSED SYLLABLES A syllable is a word or a part of a word that always has a vowel. A closed syllable always has a short vowel and is surrounded by one or more consonants.
Syllable Division Rule #1 (VC/CV) When two or more consonants stand between two vowels, divide between the consonants. vowel-consonant / consonant-vowel (VC / CV)
It’s time to practice words with closed syllables. First, read each word to yourself. Then start a timer to see how many words you can read in one minute.
