May 14: Power Steering ...Guiding Organizational Effectiveness thru Change Management! . Seminar by our own Clyde Parker (SME Chapter 82 Chair Elect) in conjunction with the Piedmont APICS chapter http://www.triadapics.org/. The session at the Airport Mariott will last from 1:30 to 5:00pm. Cost and details via email [email protected] There is an APICS meeting afterwards with a presentation on "The Shifting Trade Winds" by Jane Johnson, Government Relations Manager of Unifi. The cost of dinner and the APICS meeting will be included in the seminar fee.

We invite ASME members to join us for a joint meeting activity ..
Important to RSVP to John B.( [email protected] ) no later than May 11 so he can arrange a meeting place large enough for the number of attendees. We will advise those who register of exact place for the meeting. We now expect Greensboro will be the most central site for the majority of our members. ( There will be no charge for the meeting. A $5 donation to help cover the cost of a light snack would be appreciated. )
FARO Information: The program will feature a demonstration of portable laser scanning and computerized measuring devices used for quality control and inspection, reverse engineering, dimensional data acquisition and reporting and CAD-to-Part analysis.

In addition to the standard heat treating services, Bodycote offers “Kolsterising” – a low temperature surface hardening process for austenitic stainless steels including 300 series and other treatable materials. The benefits obtained from the Kolsterising process include improving wear resistance and resistance to galling without causing changes in the shape or size of the components. The resulting surface hardness is equivalent to 70 - 74 HRc, and the process does not adversely effect the corrosion resistance of most base materials. Parts should be finish machined prior to Kolsterising and will not require further machining afterwards. The process does not cause distortion. This company has some very interesting new concepts that they can share with you if you are interested.
