Precision has a name

Today’s market demands everything at once: guaranteed quality combined with economical operating costs This means that metrology has to be integrated into the production process

Modern, flexible production systems require faster and more accurate information on the status of the production process. This means constant in-process monitoring and adjustment which in turn means that every measurement must be made on the spot, in the factory. In addition to being very close to the production line, the measuring machine must be insensitive to temperature fluctuations and vibrations, as well as being extremely accurate. This applies not only to the start of production or after a tool-change, but also to 100 percent or random monitoring. Like a production machine or transfer line, a measuring machine must prove that it can solve real life measurement problems.

The SIRIO has proved this in over 200 installations!

In absolute terms, measurements made on precision parts require accurate instruments which remain stable for long periods and deliver reproducible results with minimal statistical scatter.

Where is the right place for the SIRIO?

In the middle of the production!

Even if the SIRIO was soaked in oil, it would still be capable of the highest possible accuracy and reliability. The whole machine, including columns and slides, functions as a single, rigid unit, with vibration dampers at all mounting points. This makes the SIRIO impervious to any vibrations or oscillations that might be caused by other machines in the vicinity, and does away with the need for special foundations. The castings are made from grey-iron, whose structure is unaffected by humidity. Precision guides with recirculating ball drives guarantee stability over long periods of time, even in a tough environment. The electronics compensate for thermal factors influencing the machine over a wide range of temperatures, thus guaranteeing reliable data. No time is lost waiting for the part to acclimatize. The SIRIO can be operated without special training, because the interface is customerorientated. Defined safety areas around the machine protect the operator. A built-in collision-protection system, which includes the spindle and probe head, triggers an emergency stop on contact with the part.

• metrology integrated into the production process • extremely robust construction • quick and accurate • impervious to temperature changes, vibration and dirt • no (expensive) separate measuring room • easy to operate • no time lost waiting for the part to acclimatise • safety specification according to international standards • very low inspection costs / part • reduced demand on other measuring devices • QUINDOS software for simple programming, even of complex parts, utilising feature based measurement • high machine availability, even under the toughest conditions • second and third shift utilisation • pallet systems can be integrated • high throughput Automatic or manual pallet systems can be easily integrated. The next pallet can be prepared while the first is being measured.

Everything in one system: dimensional measurement and form testing. Enormous savings in loading and measurement time, as well as reduced utilisation of special machines. All evaluations are made with one software, QUINDOS, ensuring compatibility. The automatic probe changer proves its value, day in day out, on all measurements. Especially when setting up for new parts or rush jobs . . .

The SIRIO MultiSCAN offers speed and flexibility It has the right probe head for every application For measuring distances, form and profile

The SIRIO MultiSCAN is unique. It offers everything: Single point probing for all measuring tasks, high speed scanning for form and profile measurement. At least 80 percent of all typical measurement tasks in manufacturing are to determine distances and position. The SIRIO MultiSCAN handles these with its dynamic probing system, equipped with the piezosensor. The other 20 percents are form measurements using the Leitz measuring probe system. The SIRIO MultiSCAN is equipped for various measurements tasks: determining distances, position, or measuring form (roundness or straightness) on prismatic parts such as cylinder blocks and heads, as well as complex geometries such as cams, screw compressors, and superchargers (where the actual profile is compared with a nominal profile). It can also produce statistical evaluations for quality control charts. • interchangeable probe heads (allowing unbeatable throughput to be achieved) • complete measurement • highest possible rates of data aquisition • easy acces to the measuring volume • CAD and CAQ connection

Complete measurement with automatic probe changing: the double arm changer replaces the old probe with the new one, all in one smooth operation.

The innovative technology in the SIRIO MultiSCAN utilises high speed scanning for form measurement Everything included in one machine

Mating parts can only be inspected properly with the aid of sophisticated form measurement machines. For this purpose, the SIRIO MultiSCAN has the Leitz measuring probe head in the probe magazine. This probe head measures the profile, sends the data to the computer, and gives the user exact information about its form. The SIRIO MultiSCAN also compensates for volumetric and thermal errors in real time. Scanning known contours: For example, hole patterns, surfaces, profiles, etc. can be measured using „open-loop“ scanning. The movement of the machine is controlled by the geometric data of the part. A data rate of 1.000 points per second can be handled by QUINDOS without any difficulty. Scanning unknown contours: The machine moves in a predetermined direction along the contour, sendisng a constant stream of data back to the computer. Any deviations from the predefined direction are recognised and corrected. This type of scanning, known as „closed-loop“ scanning, is mainly used the first „digitalisation“ of parts.

Scanning known contours: open-loop scanning

• highest possible throughput rate for all measurement and inspection tasks • single-point probing as well as form and surface finish measurement, all on one machine • standardised filtering and presentation of the measurement data.

QUINDOS software provides direct interfaces to a number of CMM models and CAD systems One software, one measuring strategy for all inspection systems, regardless of the manufacturer

QUINDOS is a powerful graphic-based software that provides a uniform strategy for all measuring tasks – from simple prismartic parts to complex geometries and countours. QUINDOS offers an advanced CAD interface that allows users to download CAD files for constructing part programms. • Simplified operation. The operator can use the original graphical design data from CAD files to create on-line and off-line part inspection programs using point-and click techniques. Professional results are achieved with no specific metrology experience. • Probe path simulations enable programmers to verify the part program before the actual part is measured. • More than 30 optional packages are available for the measurement of complex parts, such as gears, straight and spiral bevel gears, gear tools, 2D and 3D contours, airfoil shapes, scroll compressors, cams and camshafts, or free form surfaces. • A powerful statistics package provides real time SPC analysis. • An advanced graphic package creates a variety of multicolor reports in just seconds. • QUINDOS includes Feature Based Measurement Techniques that offer dramatic inspection time savings. The operator merely clicks on the part graphics, selecting the feature to be checked, and QUINDOS automatically measures them, improving the efficiency of inspection operations. QUINDOS runs on the latest PCs with Windows NT operating system.
