MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 8, 2015
Grant Funding Received for Park Development The Town of Kindersley has been awarded a $22,500 grant for playground equipment in the proposed green space near Coleman Crescent. The grant was received from the provincial Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) under the Community Places and Spaces Program. In August 2015, a working group of approximately one dozen residents from Hahn Crescent and Coleman Crescent, the two streets that border the space, was established to help design the neighbourhood park. Over the past four months, the working group has identified preferred uses for the park, assisted in the initial concept plan, and researched a variety of playground and fitness equipment to consider. The Town of Kindersley committed $25,000 toward development of the park in 2015. Additional funds are budgeted for 2016. “The Coleman Park Working Group is very happy to have been awarded the CIF grant and will continue to work hard to finalize the park plan and final budget for the public's review in the near future, as well as to continue to seek additional funding from local, provincial, and federal opportunities as they arise,” said Cheryl Summach, co-chair of the Coleman Park Working Group. “We welcome any individuals or businesses who wish to add their support, either monetary or with in-kind services, to the building of this community green space” she added. Individuals or businesses wishing to be involved or to get more information are encouraged to contact Tim Hanna, Director of Community Services, at 306-4632675 or
[email protected]. Coleman Park is the unofficial working name of the park, which will be formally named upon completion. The Working Group is exploring the possibility of a sponsorship for the naming of the park. -30For more information, contact Wayne Gibson, Manager of Communications, at 306-463-2675 or
