Pair memorized piecing and auto-pivoting on the Horizon Memory Craft 9400 QCP and quilt seaming and appliqué becomes faster and easier. After that, anything is possible! The fifth in a series of twelve blocks.
Janome Supplies Required: • Horizon Memory Craft 9400 QCP • Straight Stitch Needle plate • ¼” Seam foot O • Open Toe Satin Stitch foot F2 • Blue Tip needle Fabric and Notions • Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids: • 14” x 14” Sailor • 7” x 7” piece each Cobalt, Lagoon, Avocado, Gold, Lava, Lipstick • Terial Magic liquid stabilizer • Neutral color cotton thread • Contrast color embroidery thread for appliqué Fabric Preparation: 1. Saturate 14” square with Terial Magic. Hang to dry approximately 15-20 minutes, then press dry. 2. Cut a 3” 60° diamond out of each of the 7” fabrics. 3. On wrong side of fabric, draw a line corner to corner across center as shown on one diamond.

4. Thread machine and bobbin with cotton thread. 5. Attach ¼” Seam foot O. 6. Unlock machine. Memorized Piecing 7. Touch Sewing Applications tab > Patchwork > select Lock Stitch. 8. Place two of the diamonds right sides together, making sure to place the marked diamond on top in order to see the drawn line. 9. Place the right hand edges of diamond against the guide on the foot and align the angle with the 60 degree dotted line on the needle plate. The needle is now exactly ¼” from the end of the fabric.

Memorized Tumblers 10. Start sewing, when the needle reaches the marked line press the reverse button. The machine will lock off and stop.
Appliqué: 1. Lock machine and attach Zigzag needle plate and Open Toe Satin Stitch foot F2. 2. Center tumbling blocks on the 14” square. 3. Touch Go Back Arrow. 4. Appliqué
> select Appliqué R.
5. Touch Auto Pivot , so the foot will automatically lift when machine stops.
11. A pop up message will appear.
6. Touch Cornering button. When stopping at a corner the needle will end down and the foot will automatically lift. 7. Start sewing, stopping at first corner. 8. Turn the fabric, then touch Begin at Corner button and then continue sewing in this manner to appliqué the tumbling blocks. 9. Wash square to remove stabilizer and markings. 10. Press and then square up to 12 ½”.
12. Touch OK to memorize the seam length. Continue sewing as many pieces together as desired, every seam will be the exact length. 13. Sew a third piece to this section to complete one tumbling block. 14. Make a second tumbling block. 15. Sew these two blocks together on one side.
