ronment.” I think the record shows PHCC has done a good job of fulfilling that Mission Statement. In 2014:

To All: I remember Christmas at my Grandmother’s house listening to the grownups. While they watched the black and white television they would comment about how the year had just ‘flown by’. Back then I didn’t understand what they meant, but I sure do now. For those of you now sitting in front of a 60” flat screen pondering the ‘short year syndrome’, it’s very likely that you want your time to be quality time. I’m no different. So to justify time away from my business I want to know that PHCC adheres to our Mission Statement and that we are on track. As a group we are to be “… dedicated to the promotion, advancement, education and training of the industry for the protection of the health, safety and comfort of our society, and the protection of the envi-

San Antonio PHCC completed its first year of the Apprenticeship program and then started a second year - with even more students than the previous year. Our Broadway classroom was the location of numerous Texas PHCC Continuing Education classes. Texas PHCC helps support our local office space with a monthly contribution for that use. That same facility continues to be frequented by Associate members to bring together targeted audiences for training of new industry techniques and products. San Antonio PHCC participated in the first ever Career Day at the Freeman Expo Center. Over 800 area high school students attended and received encouragement in their pursuit of a trade.

We met at the Warren High School Career Academy and had the opportunity to view the construction skills of their students – many of which have an interest in Plumbing or HVAC as a future trade. We continue to work with St. Phillips College and area schools to promote our industry as a career option. Randy Hunter, REC Industries, graciously represented San Antonio PHCC in the review of industry codes which will impact the future of construction in our city. Thank you Randy. We had great speakers at our monthly luncheons – including local and state plumbing inspectors and other industry related topics. Our organization was able to give back to the community by participating in the Construct-A-Kids Christmas Gala which was held at the Freeman Expo Center this year. Continued on Page 2.

After taking care of business, 2014 was also a time for San Antonio PHCC members to relax and enjoy some golf at the Hill Country Hyatt Hotel, sporting clays at the San Antonio Gun Club, fishing in Rockport, and a wonderful evening Christmas party and boat ride on the River Walk. Those are great events to build long lasting relationships within our industry and PHCC-San Antonio could not do the things we do without the support of the industry sponsors & volunteers!

Thank You!! I encourage every PHCC member to consider serving in some capacity. Having served on local and state PHCC boards and various committees for the past 4 years I whole heartedly believe that with just a little bit of willingness to give you will receive far more in return than you ever expected. A special thanks to our Executive Director Heidi Trimble, the 2013-2014 Board members, and all San Antonio PHCC members for making my time as local
