MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear Cottle Parents: On Saturday, January 28, the William E. Cottle Elementary School will host its A ​ nnual Scholastic Grand Prix Tri-state Chess Tournament ​for students in grades K-12. Please refer to the flyer sent home with students with information to register directly with the National Scholastic Chess Foundation. Students from Arthur Avenue to Greenwich, CT, will participate. Second Semester p.m. Chess started on Tuesday, January 10. The a.m. classes will start on Monday, January 23 for pre-registered students only. Announcement: The Cottle Chorus will sing the National Anthem again this year on May 25 (NY Mets vs. San Diego Padres 7 p.m. game) at Citi Field. The Chorus students and their families must order tickets ($20 per person) by Friday, January 20 (see flyer sent home with Chorus members & all grades 4/5 students). Please forward check (made payable to Tuckahoe Union Free School District) to Cottle School as soon as possible. Please encourage students to arrive at school on time. Late arrivals will be marked on your child’s report card. Notes to teachers should be sent in with students or sent to the teachers via e-mail. Calls to the office or from students to home should be in cases of emergency only. NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Students being picked up early must have a written note from their parents/guardians or an email sent to their child’s homeroom teacher. If a note/email is not received, or if there is not a valid reason for the absence (example, doctor appointment, etc.), the child will be marked illegally absent.

PTA SPRING SOCIAL • APRIL 21 • BRONXVILLE FIELD CLUB

We are in the midst of planning a new and exciting Spring Social in April. This annual event raises money to support all of the wonderful programs made possible by the Tuckahoe PTA. This year’s Spring Social will be held on the evening of Friday, April 21st at the Bronxville Field Club and it promises to be a fresh, new event unlike any other. GET INVOLVED in HELPING LEAD YOUR SCHOOL - JOIN the PPLT COMMITTEE The Planning and Performance Leadership Teams (PPLT) are school-based teams that work with the building administrators in an advisory capacity to identify and implement policies and programs that enable the schools to maintain their high academic standards and to operate effectively. Each school has its own PPLT team, and each team is comprised of building administrators, teachers, parents and students (students at TMS & THS only). LOST AND FOUND We recently donated to charity quite a number of coats, sweaters, and other clothing that was left unclaimed on the PTA Lost & Found coat rack in our cafeteria. Children should check the Lost & Found coat rack during lunchtime to see if anything belongs to them, and parents can visit the coat rack any day after school.

TASC(2) SUMMER CAMP 2017 2
