Metal Trades and Automotive No matter where you are in life, or what study or career goals you may have for your future, TasTAFE has a qualification or training program that is right for you! Working in the metal trades and automotive industries can offer exciting career opportunities for highly motivated and skilled workers who can meet the demands of changing technologies and who enjoy practical and manual activities and problem solving! Although the majority of your time will be spent with a tool or two in your hands or behind the controls of a shiny new (or battered, old!) piece of machinery, in today’s workplace, it’s likely that you’ll also spend some of your time using a computer – interrogating and interpreting diagnostic systems or inputting information. Undertaking a qualification with TasTAFE in Metal Trades and Automotive will allow you to seek employment as a tradesperson in areas as diverse as automotive, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, repairs and welding. Additionally, there may be opportunities for employment in the sheet metal fields such as general fabrication, stainless steel and/or aluminium welding, fabrication industries/construction sites and the oil and gas industries.
