Happy Mother’s Day!!

Sunday, May 12

Feliz Día de las Madres!!

Message From the Mayor: The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has moved their scheduling for work and major upgrade of Broad Street/Highway 60 to 2014. This is a great opportunity for Milliken to accomplish one of its long term projects, which is the improvement and upgrade of Highway 60/the Broad Street downtown business district corridor. The initial phase of the project will be the overall design of this corridor. A grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (from gas and oil impact fees) has been awarded to the town for up to 25,000 of the design work. Britina Design Group from Arvada, Colorado will design guidelines and plans for the project. Their plan includes: *an understanding of the values of the overall community *potential hard/soft costs of proposed planning and design improvements, including strategy for funding the costs of the proposed improvements and long term maintenance costs *streetscape improvements *construction design for each phase of the project Included in Britina’s plan is a public outreach and communication phase for the conceptual design. The manager of the project will have meetings and presentations with all participants and members of the Milliken community. In the subsequent month you will be asked to communicate your thoughts and ideas on this project. We encourage each of you to be part of this process. Milt Tokunaga, Mayor [email protected]
