Minor Hockey Team Islanders Organization

Hockey  Day  on  P.E.I.  set  for  Jan.  9   The  Charlottetown  Islanders  and  the  UPEI  Panthers  will  be  teaming  up  once  again  this  season  for  the   second  “Hockey  Day  on  PEI”.   This  year’s  event  will  take  place  Saturday,  January  9,  2016,  with  the  goal  of  raising  money  for  minor   hockey  teams  across  the  Island.   The  day’s  activities  will  begin  with  the  Islanders  hosting  the  defending  President’s  Cup  champions,  the   Rimouski  Oceanic,  at  3  p.m.   The  Panthers  will  then  take  the  ice  at  the  Eastlink  Centre  in  the  evening  to  face  the  Dalhousie  Tigers  at  7   p.m.   “We’re  excited  to  team  with  the  Panthers  again  to  give  fans  a  chance  to  see  two  of  the  Island’s  hockey   teams  in  action  and  raise  some  money  for  minor  hockey  in  P.E.I.,”  said  Islanders  President  of  Operations   Craig  Foster.   “Sometimes  there  are  scheduling  conflicts  with  the  Islanders  and  Panthers  so  this  is  a  great  way  to   ensure  that  fans  of  both  teams  get  to  see  both  games.”   “We  are  looking  forward  again  to  participating  in  Hockey  Day  on  P.E.I.  with  the  Charlottetown   Islanders,”  said  Panthers  head  coach  Forbes  MacPherson.     “The  work  behind  this  event  is  providing  an  opportunity  to  continue  build  our  relationship  and  grow  the   event  on  a  yearly  basis.  This  is  truly  a  win/win  for  both  programs  and  the  Island  hockey  community.”   Between  games,  ticket  holders  can  head  over  to  the  Trade  Centre  for  more  entertainment  as  fans  can   enjoy  Red  Rock  Wrestling  with  P.E.I.’s  “Kowboy”  Mike  Hughes.   Tickets  for  the  games  will  be  $20  and  will  be  sold  by  minor  hockey  players  in  the  province.  Half  the   proceeds  from  the  tickets  sold  will  go  to  the  minor  player’s  team,  with  the  team  that  sells  the  most   getting  the  chance  to  play  a  game  at  the  Eastlink  Centre  before  the  Islanders  and  Panthers  take  the  ice.   Teams  interested  in  selling  tickets  can  visit  the  Islanders  business  office  on  the  second  floor  of  the   Eastlink  Centre,  call  (902)  892-­‐7349  or  email  [email protected].

The team that sells the most tickets will get the chance to play the opening game of Hockey Day on P.E.I.
