Trip Descriptions Cleveland

*Ladies Only* Journey by van to Cleveland where you will support Norma Nulph and her work with inner-city people. Take toiletry bags (generously supplied by the church body) and all the fixings for a meal (chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a cookie). The people at the clinic have access to donated clothing, and after listening to a sermon, they go through the food line for lunch. The team helps with kitchen clean-up before heading back to Troy. Extra money expenditures for this trip are at the participant’s discretion for additional snacks. No specific clothing or equipment is required for this trip. Plan A Trip Please note: sign-ups for this trip will take place at a later date.

Nashville

Honduras

*Teen Trip* Journey by van to Cottage Cove Missions in Nashville, Tennessee. Participants will start each day with challenging discipleship training with Brent MacDonald. A curriculum is provided as you “go deep” into the word of God and consider topics important to understanding and sharing your faith. In the afternoons your ministry experience continues as you provide programming for inner-city children and assisting in projects which keep the facility ready for ministry. Direct interaction with children is the highlight of the day. Evenings may consist of group time, sightseeing, or other ministry-related work. All transportation, food, and accommodations are included in the trip price. Extra money expenditures are at the participant’s discretion for additional snacks and souvenirs. Clothing requirements include modest summer choices and will be addressed in detail once the team is formed. Plan B Trip

*International Trip* Journey to Honduras by plane with the Hearts to Honduras organization where you will be an active participant in the construction of a home for a local Christian family. Work will take place during the mornings and afternoons. Evenings may consist of group time, sightseeing, prayer time, meeting with local people, or other ministry-related work. An excursion to nearby Mayan ruins is part of this experience. All travel, food, accommodations, and sightseeing are included in the trip price. Extra money expenditures are at the participant’s discretion for additional snacks and souvenirs. Clothing requirements include climate appropriate choices, but all house-building work is done in long pants. Trip participants must be able to walk long distances (2+ miles) uphill on multiple days and must be able to participate in manual labor activities in a hot climate. Honduras is a third world country where immediate access to medical facilities may not be available. For this reason, trip participants must be in reasonably good health. Updated vaccinations are not required, but are recommended. Spanish is the primary language of the country. A valid passport is required for travel. Plan C Trip

We want to know that you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ before you serve in a major ministry here at Grace. Furthermore, we want to know if you have made that relationship public through baptism. We would not want someone being an extension of our message and ministry that did not own it themselves. Also, if you are a member, then you can vote. We only want people to vote who have a vested interest in our church and have the Spirit of God indwelling them. So, the membership process allows us to have that conversation with you.)

Additional trips for other missionaries/ministries will be considered by the Mission Committee on a case-by-case basis. 3. All official Grace Baptist Church mission trips must be approved by the Mission Committee. Mission Trip Leaders 1. Those individuals interested in leading a mission trip need to meet with the Mission Committee to gain approval. a. When meeting with the Mission Committee, the preplanning for the trip should already be completed. b. Trip leaders should work with the Mission Trip Coordinator to plan mission trips. 2. Mission trip leaders must be members of Grace Baptist Church in good standing. 3. It is preferred that mission trip leaders would have previous experience in attending and/or leading mission trips. 4. Mission trip leaders will work with the Mission Trip Coordinator in designing a trip that meets the goals of the Mission Committee and Grace Baptist Church. 5. It is strongly recommended that every trip be led by two people. 6. Mission trip leaders should endeavor to make the Grace Baptist Mission trip they’re leading the focus of their summer travel and be readily available in the weeks leading up to departure. Mission Trip Participants 1. Priority for participation is given to church members who are involved in church ministries. 2. Priority is next given to regular church attendees who are involved in church ministries. 3. Particular trips may choose to set the age requirement even higher. 11. 12. Mission trip participants are expected to follow the directions of their mission trip team leaders and the Mission Committee as representatives of Grace Baptist Church. Finances for Mission Trips 1. Mission Trip participants will be responsible for the entire cost of their own trip. 2. Once chosen for the team, trip deposits are non-refundable except in special circumstances and at the discretion of the Mission Committee. 3. Participants are strongly encouraged to send out support letters to include people from inside and outside the church. 4. Money from support letters may be sent directly to the church or to the individual team members. Team members are responsible to pay the balance in full by the designated due date. 5. Monies donated by the church body and not designated to any specific person on the mission team will be held in a fund and then used for team members and/or ministry work, as needed. 6. As budgeted money is available, and at the discretion of the Mission Committee, mission trip leaders’ trips will be paid for by the church. The leaders are still encouraged to send out support letters. 7. Anyone who applies for a mission trip but is not chosen for the team will have his/her deposit returned.
