Monday July 10, 2017 10am – 3pm Inserting piping and using Embroidery Machine for buttonholes Project can be made with a simple sewing machine Supplies Needed Fabric & Such Fabric Calculation: o If you are using an existing pillow, measure the height and width and add 1’’. This will be the front. o For the back add 6” to the width and 1” to the height and cut that in half. o If you want to make more than one, take the back measurement and multiply by the number desired. The math is the same if you are buying a new pillow form. ¼ yard of contrasting material for the piping 2 yards of piping/cording, your choice of size. Sample used kitchen twine. You can find nylon inexpensive cording at Orchard Supply or Home Depot. 1 spool matching thread Needles, Notions & Stabilizer Needles 90 microtex √ Notions: 4 fairly large buttons. Sample used plastic buttons from a 40 count pack from Jo-Ann’s for less than $10. Standard Sewing Supplies (fabric scissors, paper scissors, pins, seam gauge, tape measure, etc.) Machine & Accessories Sewing Machine in good working order with manual, basic feet and accessories Piping Foot or Mini piping foot for small cording √ Embroidery unit in working order. Project can be completed without, using just a sewing machine. √ 5 X 7 design of your choice. It could be a saying or simple monogram. 360 X 200 hoop for making buttonholes. A 5 X7 will work with multiple hooping.
