“Double Sawtooth” 10” x 10” Cutting Directions for 1 Block ¡ From Background fabric cut:

¡ From Gold fabric cut:

- (2) 4” x 4” Squares. Subcut in half diagonally once to make a total of (4) Half Square Triangles (HST) (A) - (8) 3” x 3” Squares (B) ¡ From the Purple fabric cut: - (2) 3” x 3” Squares (C) ¡ From the Green fabric cut: - (2) 3” x 3” Squares (D)

- (4) 1-7/8” x 1-7/8” Squares (F) ¡ From Blue fabric cut:

- (2) 3” x 3” Squares (G) - (5) 1-7/8” x 1-7/8” Square (H) ¡ From the Red fabric cut: - (2) 3” x 3” Squares (I) - (2) 1-1/2” x 10-1/2” (J) - (2) 1-1/2” x 12-1/2” (K)

Piecing Instructions ¡ Layout (4) Gold “F” squares and (5) Blue “H” squares as shown.

¡ Sew blocks into rows, pressing seams towards the Blue fabric.

¡ Sew rows together to make one block. Press seams in the direction

of the arrows. Block should measure 4-5/8” x 4-5/8”.

¡ Layout (4) Background “A” HST around the pieced square

¡ Sew (1) Background triangle to each side of the pieced square.

Press towards the background to make one center square. Square should measure 6-1/2” x 6-1/2”.

Mark a diagonal line on the backside of the (8) Background “B” squares as shown.

Layer (1) Background “B” Square on top of (1) Purple “C” square.

¡

Sew a 1/4” seam on both sides of the drawn line.

¡

Cut in half on the diagonal line. Press towards the Purple triangle. Square up blocks to 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”

¡

Repeat the previous (3) steps to make a total of (4) Purple Half Square Triangle (HST) units, (4) Green HST units, (4) Blue HST units, and (4) Red HST units.

Layout (1) Purple HST, (1) Green HST, & (1) Red HST as shown.

Sew blocks into rows pressing seams open to make (1) Side border.

¡

Repeat previous (2) steps to make (2) Side rows

Layout (2) Blue HST’s, (1) Purple HST, (1) Green HST, & (1) Red HST as shown. Note: the first Blue HST is turned different then the rest of the row.

Sew blocks into rows pressing seams open to make (1) Top/Bottom row.

Layout (2) Top/Bottom rows, (2) Side Rows, and (1) Center Square as shown.

Sew blocks into rows pressing seams open.

¡ Sew rows together to make (1) Double Sawtooth block. Press

seams open. Block should measure 10-1/2” x 10-1/2”.

Add Block Framing Strips ¡

Sew a Red “J” strip to the left and right sides of the block. Press towards the Red strip.

Sew a Red “K” strip to the top and bottom of the block. Press towards the Red strip.
