Moon Phase Wheel for Interactive Science Notebooks
Materials: Copies of moon phase outlines (1 for each student) Stencil of wheel cover for students to trace onto construction paper Construction paper Brads (1 for each student)
Directions: 1. Guide students through drawing and labeling of each of the moon’s phases. 2. Students will cut out the moon phase circle and glue it into their notebooks. Make sure that they have the New Moon facing the top of their notebook. 3. Label the sun at the top of the notebook and also include directional arrows for waxing and waning. 4. Have students trace the top wheel onto construction paper and cut out. Trace where the hole is to be punched. Have them label the front of the wheel with “Phases of the Moon”. 5. Carefully punch a hole and push brad through notebook page. 6. Wheel is complete, ready for students to practice the phases of the moon!
