• Differences - Depth - Primary and Secondary Source Analysis - Steady assessment throughout - Writing, Writing, Writing
• Set-up – Initially, Trimesters (MarchJune) similar to college quarter – Now, Semesters (Nov – June) more time to acclimate students into rigor of the course
• Rigor – Extensive primary/secondary reading – Blue book exams (ID’s & essay) – Research Paper
WVHS/UW Social Studies Kevin Brennan, Social Studies • College level - UW trainings - Norming - Visits from the liaison - Success at the next level
• Support - Liaison - UW Resources - Field trip to UW for research support with research paper
• Worth taking for credit – $350, tuition, books, etc. – Credits do transfer but students need to research their institution
• Final Thoughts – Don’t over-enroll. Potentially may take rigor away from the class.
