Both bouquet and medium-bodied palate offer a tapestry of black fruits, spices and black pepper, tannins woven through the succulent, juicy black fruits, French oak there or thereabouts, and fine lingering tannins.

Set me back $31 at my local BWS. I’m sure there are better prices out there. Cliff Edge Shiraz has been in good form of late. It’s a sweeter fruit profile than we generally expect to see under this label, or from this estate, though it’s immaculately balanced and presented and has just-enough enough pepper-spice to keep lovers of this label happy. Spice notes though are certainly in shorter supply here than usual. Creamy mouthfeel, floral aspects, sweet raspberry and black cherry, perhaps just into plum. It’s a seductive wine, no doubt. Mount Langi Ghiran is certainly putting out excellent reds right now.

2015 Cliff Edge Shiraz - Accolades The 2015 MOUNT LANGI GHIRAN Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The 2015 vintage provided near perfect conditions for grape growing. A long dry Summer with warm days and cool nights resulted in slow and steady ripening, ideal for producing Shiraz of distinctive character with immense complexity and spice. Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality.
