It is my hope that all students will: • Become independent and responsible • Become thoughtful and proficient writers, readers, and speakers • Explore our lives, our world, and our future through short stories, plays, novels, poems, songs, and essays • Create a safe atmosphere where all students can comfortably voice opinions, explore interests, and respect, encourage, and help fellow classmates.
Grading Policy: 60% test and final projects 40% daily assignment Students will receive points each week for having their planner signed. Planners will be checked on Fridays. AR Expectations: Students will take an assessment that will determine the number of points required each nine weeks. The AR grade is based on % correct and % of points earned. This AR grade will count as a test grade for reading class. Test Corrections must be completed within one week of the graded test being handed back to you. You may get help from your classmates, parents, or teacher. However, make sure you understand your errors enough to explain them clearly. • You must do the following on a separate sheet of paper for each incorrect question on the test: o Number the question and rewrite it. o Write at least two complete sentences explaining what your error was and what you need to do to correct it. Write enough to prove that you understand it now. o Show all work to correct the problem or question and include the right answer. o You can earn as much as half of the missed points back.
