A Reflection of Life

Mattie Marshall Fountain

PROCESSIONAL

Mattie Marshall Fountain was born on November 3, 1933, in Monroe County, AL. She is the daughter of and Frank and Lizzie (Longmire) Marshall. She was a bright child who displayed an eager desire to learn and an affection for education. Simply put, Mattie knew at an early age that she would become an educator. At the tender age of 16, she enrolled in Alabama Agriculture and Mechanical University (AAMU) in Huntsville. She later transferred to Alabama State University in Montgomery, where she received her Masters Degree in Education. Well known throughout several counties, she taught for more than 32 years before retiring. While in Montgomery, she met and married Sanders Robinson, Sr. Their union brought about the birth of two children. Later she relocated to her hometown in Monroe County and re-established herself. She once again entered into marriage, vowing to love Wilbert Fountain. They remained happily married until the Lord called him home. In the late morning hours of Monday, September 28, 2015, her earthly home was traded for her mansion in the sky. Surrounded by those who loved her, she succumbed to her illness and was received into God’s Kingdom. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Michael Maurice Robinson. Mattie lived a good life and was a devoted wife, mother, teacher and church worker. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son: Sanders Robinson, Jr. of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren: Jennifer Robinson, Phillip Michael Robinson and Nicholas Sanders Robinson; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other loved relatives and friends.

RECESSIONAL

I

A Limb has fallen from the family tree. keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.” Remember the best times, the laughter, the song; the good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest; remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. go on with your life, don’t worry at all. I’ll miss you dearly, so keep up your chin; until the day comes and we’re together again.
