The Principal’s Pen... By Scott Bein: It is difficult to believe we are half way finished with this year. Our students have grown so much in such little time. They are making progress with reading and arithmetic. Our teachers are working extra hard to help our students grow. However, now is the time to stop and relax for a couple of weeks , and spend some quality time with our families over this Christmas break. During the break try to keep those little minds active. Here are a few suggestions: 1. Read books together 2. Students K-3 have a log on for ticket to read. Web site is www.tickettoread.com. This helps support their literacy growth. 3. Grades 1 through 5 can access www.mathchimp.com. It is free math games and instruction. 4. Pre-K and Kindergarten can access www.cookie.com for free instructional games and activities. 5. Pre-K and Kindergarten can access www.starfall.com for literacy help. 6. www.funbrain.com to play games to practice reading and math skills. With a little time spent over the break on some of these helpful hints our kiddos will come back ready to go for the second half of the year. Have a great break and a Merry Christmas!

Study Habits 1. Set your child up for success by finding a distraction free zone. 2. Establish a specific time each day to study. 3. Jot down a purpose for their study.
Example: I
will learn my spelling words for this week. 4. Encourage them to try different study strategies. For example: draw a grid with 4 squares to solve 2x2
December and January Students of the Month… Our assembly to honor our students of the Months for December and January will be held Friday, January 12 at 2:30pm. We are waiting with heightened expectation to reveal our honorees. If you student is selected we will notify you. It is always a great encouragement to your child when you can be here for the presentation. So we hope to see you here for this great event. Great activities... We are so proud of our kindergarten students for making gift packages for our rest home residents in town. They delivered them Monday the 18th. Thank you Mrs. Harsha, Mrs. Damme, and Mrs. Lomangino for teaching the students to be servants to our community.
