Pattern Instructions “My Daughters Garden”

Block 1 4 Patch

Cut (3) 2 ½” x 42” strips of each fabric Sub-Cut strips in half – using a BIG variety

Need (4) squares of Background and (5) completed 4-Patches for each Block

Layout with 4 patches on corners and in center. Stitch Block 1 together, across each row, then stitch rows together. Continue until you have completed (12) Block 1. Measure finished block and square up to 9 ¾ to 10”.

together lengthwise. Press ‘strip sections’ open with seam to darker color. Cut into 2 ½” sections. Mixing up the colors again, combine (2) 2 ½” sections together with seams opposite, to lay flat. Continue Mixing units with other units, variety is the key !! until you have (5) 4-patches for each Block 1. Need 60 total. Press. Square if necessary to 4” square. Keep mixing up and sewing Make sure all 4 patches are finished to the same size, 4” square.

Using cut Green 1” strips, sub-cut (4 strips) 1” x the same length as Block 1, i.e. 1” x 9-3/4”. Attach strips around Block, to top/bottom and sides. Do not duplicate without written permission

o Cut background same size finished Block 1, which includes Green Sashing strips around the Block 1.

Setting Triangles and Corners…

o

o o Measure and cut (3) 17” squares of Background. o Cut diagonally (2) two times, yielding (4) Setting Triangles per 17” square, the cut size of triangle should have at least ½” Seam Allowance. o For the corners, measure and cut (2) 13” squares of Background. Cut o diagonally one time, yielding (4) Corner Triangles per square.

Quilt as desired. Attach cut Binding strips together end to end to create one long strip. Fold strip in half lenghthwise wrong sides together, press. Beginning 12” down, stitch ¼” basting stitch, ending 24” at the end of the strip. Attach binding to quilt using a ½” seam allowance, mitering at the corners. To finish – stop stitching 18” from starting point, measure and attach to start of binding strip, then continue by attaching to quilt. Press binding to back side, hand stitch to back of quilt. Add label and admire!!

Body Construction o Lay blocks 1 and 2 out according to picture, include side triangles and corners. o Stitch diagonally in rows. o Combine completed rows, 2 at a time, then 4 at a time, etc. I hope you enjoy this quilt for many years o Square the body of quilt before measuring and adding the to come…. border.
