NEWBERNINA PRODUCTS FOR 2014! THE NEW TOP-OF-THE-LINE BERNINA 880 Introducing the BERNINA 880. This machine is an 830 with a new updated interface. It also has new features such as, creating unique embroidery arrangements with shaping, colorizing your embroideries with the color wheel, creating your own stitches with the stitch designer, a new seven-inch color touch screen with scrollable navigation, and creatively distorting stitches.

The new BERNINA 560 has the capability to do paintworks and crystal works at an affordable price. It also offers the same interface as the BERNINA 580, a 5” high resolution color TFT screen, 9mm stitch width, 476 total stitch patterns, 70 embroidery designs, 4 alphabet fonts, automatic thread cutter and is available with or without embroidery.

  If you want the ability to embroider and sew at an extremely low price the new Bernette Chicago 7 is for you. Personalizing a baby quilt by embroidering a name or even embroidering a label to put on the back of your quilt are just a couple of the things this little machine can do. This machine also has 200 stitch patterns, built-in needle threader, 100 built-in exclusive embroidery designs, and can be used with the BERNINA Cutwork V2 tool.

Sew WhatEver

  SewWhatEver is Ladies Night!!! If you’re looking for a night out and want to improve your sewing skills with the projects that we have planned, or want time to get your UFO projects done, or maybe you just want to have fun, then this class is for you. Every Thursday night from 5:30 to 8:30 we will be there to teach and help you in any way we can. The cost is only $10. With refreshments and ladies that share the same love of sewing, you’ll be sure to have a good time!   Starting in December, on the last Thursday of each month we will be doing Skinnies by Ribbon Candy Quilt Co. Not only are they cute, but such a great way to use your fabric scraps.

Raggy Fall Quilt Thursday, October 10 Teacher: Miriam Rawson

Make this wonderful, soft, handdyed flannel wall-hanging or table topper. Miriam will show you how to stitch and embellish the pumpkins to add texture and detail before you wash it and fray the edges.

Now who doesn’t love PINTEREST? Whoever invented it, is a genius! You can get so many ideas from the website. I loooove It!! If you are wondering what Pinterest is, it’s a website where people share their ideas with the world, so it’s great!! They have vacations places, recipes, crafts, sewing and so forth. There’s a lot of cute stuff on there. We decided to have a Pinterest Party. Bring 6 to 12 gifts and walk away with 6 to 12 different gifts. (Come in to our store for more details) There will also be yummy refreshments!

ST. GEORGE Seasonal Skinnies 2 – Snowman Thursday, December 12 Teacher: Miriam Rawson Miriam has chosen a hand-dyed flannel for the dark blue backdrop for the snowman. The appliquéd snowman and scarf are a mixture of cotton prints and flannels. This project is easy to complete, and you will probably complete the snowman and be ready to quilt!

All of it is easy and a lot of fun!

Come learn how to sew the perfect pin tuck; sew in piping with ease; do flawless echo quilting; automatically sew in ruffles; bind your favorite quilt; create decorative crafts with couching; sew in an invisible zipper with ease, and many other techniques using the many Bernina feet and attachments! Create your own diploma using many of the techniques learned in this class! This is two part class, and it’s the second Wednesday of the month.

Fran & Friends Wednesday, November 6 5:30pm-9:30pm Class fee: $15 Taught by: Renee Hall This fun pattern is a purse and a doll, too! The doll’s hands hook together with hook and loop tape so its arms can go up around a little girl’s neck or around her waist. Her head is the purse flap and closes with hook and loop tape. Open it up and there is ample room for all a little girl’s treasures. Fran and her two friends each have a different hairstyle: ponytails, braids, and a bob. Their playful expressions include a smile, a shy smirk, and a laugh.

Embroidery Classes GO! Welcome Home Wall Hanging Pattern Friday, January 17 10:30am-3:00pm - Class fee: $15 Taught by: Annette Houston Make everyone feel welcome with the GO! Welcome Home Wall Hanging. This project is filled with detailed houses and trees (not to mention the lettering) that would normally take hours to get just right, but with the Go Cutter you’ll have it done before you know it!

We will be demonstrating the software and showing off the tools. This will be a great opportunity to see these powerful tools!

In this class we will be covering the Portfolio part of the Bernina software. With Portfolio you will be able to convert, transfer, and organize your designs quickly!

Fun With Embroidery

BOOOOO! Did it scare you? Bet you get more oooh’s and aaah’s than screams with this cute “Stitch ‘N’ Turn Spooks” Skeleton done completely IN THE HOOP! Hankie Blankie Pets “At the Zoo” Wednesday, November 6 10:30am-1:30pm Class fee: $10 Teacher: Annette Houston A lion, monkey, and a panda … (sounds like the beginning of a really good joke) … add three new faces to your cute and cuddly blankie collection. You’ll want to laugh when you see how much your baby or toddler loves them! The faces, paws, and appliqués are embroidered with beautiful satin stitches- all in minutes in the hoop. After that, finish up stitching the little blankies on your sewing machine. Pets are made in fun plush fabrics, such as Minkee. You’ll be sure to get extra cuddling time with your favorite little monkey!

Making these embroidered finger puppets is not as hard as it may seem. In this class you will learn how to do embroidery applique with felt. If you have never done embroidery, this is the PERFECT class to get you started, and you will end up with some cute finger puppets to take home to entertain your kids or grandkids!

Makeup Case “In the Hoop Projects!” By Anita Goodesign Wednesday, January 8 10:30am-1:30pm Class fee: $10 Taught by: Annette Houston This embroidery project is “IN THE HOOP”. What more can you say than that? Create a makeup case without sewing a stitch by hand. The whole project fits in your 5” x 7” hoop. It also works great as a purse on its own! The flap is quilted and flaunts perky flower petals. The bag features a back pocket, a zippered compartment, and an inside pocket. As always, the project is done completely in the hoop. We can guarantee that you will be sure to attract plenty of compliments—but watch out for the folks who ask you to make them one, too!

Stand-Alone Lace Bookmarkers by Anita Goodesign Wednesday, February 5 10:30am-1:30pm Class fee: $10 Taught by: Rene Hall This is a beautiful lace bookmark collection with a design for every occasion. Whether it is Mother’s Day, a birthday, or even a holiday, you’re sure to find the right one. Some of the designs have an opening at one end so you can dress it up by adding a ribbon, beads or even a tassel. It is the “perfect project” for creating the “perfect gift” for all those avid readers in your circle of friends and family.

CLUB What is Virtual Bernina Club?

  Susan Fears,. BERNINA Educator, is ready to inspire you...virtually! BERNINA has teamed up with participating dealers across the country to host monthly in-store Virtual BERNINA Club sessions.This class you will watch a webinar where Susan teaches you some new techniques and one of our teachers, Rene Hall who is a very experienced sewer will help you do the hands on project. It’s once a month and I promise you that you will learn a lot of amazing techniques, even if you’re an experienced seamstress . There’s such a variety from sewing, to serging, to embroidering that there will be something for everyone. You will also get a copy of the webinar so you’ll have something to look back on. So no worries about having to memorize everything! We got your back!

  Santa has a big job on his hands. Imagine all the work he has to do. There’s no way he could get the job done without the help of all his little elves! Come down to our Christmas open house at Dave’s Bernina. We will transform our store into Santa’s workshop. We will have many fun things to see (our quick Christmas gift ideas), taste and smell (like our yummy treats), and make n’ take some really fun and cute projects. We are so excited that we wanted to tell you all our little Christmas secrets, but Santa said no. You know Santa, he likes to be sneaky and we don’t want to be on the naughty list!!!! We will give you a little hint though…..shhhhh. It’s made with thread, it looks like lace, and you put it on a tree. That’s all we can tell you. Don’t miss this event!

This is what you use for micro-stippling and close-up work. An LED lights the needle perfectly, allowing you to do your best work ever.
