New Consultant Orientation, Part Two: Getting Your Business Out There Understanding the basics of booking and holding parties will give your business a jump start. This training focuses on best practices for creating your list of 100, holding parties, and rewarding your Hosts. We will discuss a product overview, party basics, how to share the amazing Host Rewards you can offer as a part of your Scentsy business, and ideas for a variety of parties to keep your calendar full.

The Scentsy catalogue is changed twice per year; March for spring and summer, and in September for autumn and winter. These catalogue changes are called ‘transitions’. Each catalogue offers a selection of warmers, stands, and bars. Scentsy Warmers Full-Size: Make a statement in any room. Express your individuality or enhance your décor. Approximately 11 cm wide and 15 cm tall. Mid-Size: All the beauty and charm of a Full-Size Scentsy Warmer in a slightly smaller size, perfect for offices and compact spaces. Approximately 10 cm wide and 13 cm tall. Scentsy Warmer Stands Add visual impact and elevate your Scentsy warmer, available in round or square styles. Powdercoated metal with an oil-rubbed bronze finish. Scentsy Bars The Scentsy Bar is a specially formulated, high-quality paraffin based wax loaded with scented fragrance oils, perfectly suited for all Scentsy Warmers. With convenient break-apart sections, you can divide one bar into different warmers or mix and match any of our 80 available fragrances. Bars last approximately 60-80 hours and will outlast most jarred candles three times their size, without the flame, smoke, or soot. The wax is not burned, and therefore is not released into the air to pollute our lungs, walls, and furniture. Our wickless bars are warmed to slowly melt the wax and release the scent. Favorites: Our signature fragrances can be found in this collection. Whether you like sweet, spicy, or clean, you’ll find something you love. *Spring & Summer: This collection bursts with the best warm-weather scents, bringing to mind flowers in bloom, juicy fruits, long lazy days, and the feeling of sun on your face. *Autumn & Winter: This collection will fill your home or office with the warm and cosy scents of brisk autumn breezes and festive holidays. Romance: A little bit sultry, a little bit sweet, a little bit earthy—allow this collection to tempt you. Scentsy Man: Rich, woodsy scents combine with spicy, herbal notes to create this masculine collection. Spa: You don’t need a day at the spa to experience calm and relaxation. Call to mind the woodsy smell of a mountain hideaway or a breezy day at the beach. *catalogue season-specific

Corner Café: You know that feeling you get when you bite into a warm bakery biscuit or take a sip of your favourite drink at the coffee shop? Bring that yummy feeling home with these fragrances. Seven Seas: From the vivid spices of Morroco to the gardenia-inspired fragrances of Brazil, the Seven Seas collection will transport you to the world’s most intriguing places.

Create Your List of 100 There is a blank list of 100 in your Start-Up Guide included with your Starter Kit. Think of all the people you know and starting filling in the list. It may take a few days, but it works! Use the following examples to get started:            

Friends and family Spouse’s friends and family School friends (yours and/or your child’s) Neighbours Teachers Someone who loves candles Contacts through children Co-workers Someone who travels Someone who needs or wants extra income Places you do business Church or social contacts

Launch Party The launch party is a celebration of your new business. It’s the best way to get your business off to a strong start. Have your launch party as soon as possible and invite everyone you know. Your excitement will be contagious! Use the tools you feel comfortable with; mail out invites, use Facebook, make personal phone calls, send emails, and tell your neighbours. The more people you talk to, the more successful your launch party will be. Plan to over invite, as one out of three will actually attend. After you have invited guests, and it gets closer to the party date, provide a reminder. Note: When you sell 500 points in Personal Retail Volume (PRV) in your first 15 calendar days as a Consultant, you have the option to purchase the Shooting Star Enhancement Kit (10 pre-selected warmers at a substantial discount). Remember the shipping is free and you also earn commission on the purchase, so plan your party soon! Use yourself as the Host for your launch party. You can use the Host Rewards for your personal inventory and add to your Starter Kit. Another idea is to use your Host Rewards as a giveaway or prize at your party! Tell guests you will give them a free bar if they place an order over a specific amount. You can then use your free or halfprice allotment to purchase a 6-pack for those giveaway bars.

Home Party A home party is a fun way to bring all of your guests together to see the great product you are selling. Home parties typically take about 90 minutes but it’s up to you how long they last. You don’t need a lot of product to get started. With Scentsy, you can start your business with minimal product on hand. Create a small display from your Starter Kit and have your testers out for people to smell. Veteran consultants suggest having minimal refreshments; people are coming for you and the amazing products. Some recommend providing a sweet snack, a salty snack and a beverage. Keeping your party fun and simple is a great way to show your guests they can sell Scentsy too! Here are two styles of a home party: 

Presentation Do it your way! Scentsy encourages you to be authentic in all you do. We don’t require you to follow a script or have any specific presentation requirements. Work with your Sponsor to come up with talking points and creative ways to display and generate excitement for the products.



Open House You have the potential of having dozens of people arriving over several hours. This is typically a more casual atmosphere and great for busy people who just want to drop in when it’s convenient, spending 1520 minutes looking at the products and smelling the testers. For this style of party, you can set up several displays for guests to view warmers and smell your fragrance testers.

Here’s a tip for outside orders: Provide some testers to your Host for outside ‘basket’ orders. If your Host has guests who cannot attend a home party, your Host can gather orders and have those included with her party total. This will increase the Host’s total party sales, free product, and half-price rewards. Party orders of £150 or more, VAT inclusive, are shipped free, but orders that are shipped directly to a customer will incur a shipping charge. Basket Party A basket party is the Scentsy version of a catalogue party. Basket party sales are not meant to replace home party sales because they don’t provide the same environment for sharing all the benefits of Scentsy. However, this type of party is great for those who are not able to attend or host a home party. Host Rewards for a basket party are the same as those for a home party. Provide your Host with some testers, catalogues, and order forms. Rather than having a party at a specific time or location, they take the basket wherever they go—lunch with a friend, to church, a family gathering, any place they interact with others. Basket parties typically last 10-14 days and must not be open longer than 14 days. Customers who ordered in the early days of the party will be anxiously awaiting their product.

Host Rewards The benefit of hosting a Scentsy party is the Host Rewards. The Host needs to be motivated and rewarded generously for opening their home and bringing together prospects to experience Scentsy products. The Scentsy Host Rewards Programme is one of your strongest tools in the development of your business. The rewards chart is in the back of every catalogue and is also featured in your Start-Up Guide. The top line is the amount in guest sales, the second line indicates the percentage of free products the Host can earn based on the amount of party sales, and the third line indicates how many half-price items a Host can earn. Note the percentage changes from 10% to 15% at the £400 level. Encourage your Host to aim for this amount in their party sales.

Perpetual Party Reward Each party also earns one additional half-price item, to be used as the Perpetual Party Reward. This additional half-price item is to be given to a party Host when he or she attends a party booked by a guest at his or her own party. Use this as a tool to book more parties. At your launch party, you could tell your guests, ‘for everyone who books a party today, I will give you an extra half-price item when you hold your party’. If you are the Host of a party, you can also use the item for yourself to build inventory, enhance your Starter Kit display, or as a prize for a party game. Ready, Set…Go! Make a goal to talk to at least ten people a week about your business. Hand out two catalogues or business cards each day. If people don’t know that you are selling Scentsy, you aren’t talking enough! If you want to book yourself solid, never leave a party without future bookings. It’s that simple! Strive to get two bookings from each party to gain momentum in growing your business. Market yourself and your business in all you do:    
