New Graduation Requirements
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION HB 5 GRADUATION PLAN (For Students Entering High School in 2014-2015)

During the 83 Texas Legislature, House Bill 5 was signed into law, which changes high school graduation requirements for students who will be freshmen during the 2014-15 school year. The bill provides more flexibility for high school students to pursue either high education or a career pathway. It establishes one graduation plan – Foundation High School Program (FHSP) – with opportunity to earn endorsements and performance acknowledgements. Below is a snapshot of the new graduation requirements based on the availability of courses offered through BISD. Please note: Some areas are still under review by the State Board of Education (SBOE), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the BISD Board of Trustees.
