Phi Gamma Delta 2014 New Member Program Overview The purpose of the New Member program is to familiarize the chapter's newest members to Phi Gamma Delta, its history, and the expectations it has of its members. Phi Gamma Delta seeks to help men grow and mature during the fraternal experience, a process that begins with New Member Education. New Members are familiarized with the chapter throughout the education process and become actively involved through committee positions and service opportunities. New Members also receive support from members ofthe chapter, especially from Big Brothers, that help guide them throughout the process. The Chi Eta chapter also adheres to Phi Gamma Delta's strict, zero-tolerance policy regarding hazing in any form or fashion. Each weekNew Members will be guided by the New Member Educators as they study the Purple Pilgrim, a book produced by our International Headquarters which covers values, the history of fraternities, the organization ofthe fraternity, Fiji customs and traditions, scholarship, and involvement beyond a member's college days.

Success
ofthe Program
Phi Gamma Delta measures the success of the New Member Education Program by maintaining an extremely high initiation rate. ln Spring of2014, ofthose pledged in into the fraternity, 8 of8 men became fully initiated brothers. In Fall of20l4, ofthose pledged into the fraternity, I 6 of I 7 men became fully-initiated brothers. Members of both the Mu (Spring 2014) and Nu pledge class (Fall 2014) were highly active within the fraternity and on campus, engaging in campus ministries, intramural sports, and numerous campus events. The chapter had zero incidents ofhazing or alcohol abuse and new members have remained fully engaged with the chapter since initiation. Our new member program aims for every pledge brother to earn at least a 3.0 GPA during his pledge semester in order to earn the AAA scholarship offered by our International Headquarters for maintaining a 3.0 GPA during one's pledge semester. ln the Spring of20l4, 8 of 8 men were rewarded the scholarship as they had an average GPA of3.537. In the fall 2014 semester, l6 of l7 members were rewarded the scholarship as they had an average GPA of 3.64. One of Phi Gamma Delta's five values is Service. We encourage all of our new members to participate in our chapter philanthropic events as well as other campus and local, national, and international phi lanthropies. A large part of our program is fraternity education. Pledge brothers are expected to earn an 80% or higher grade on each ofeight exams. Every pledge brother from the spring and fall 2014 classes achieved this grade. Furthermore, we encourage our pledge brothers to be involved in at least one campus and/or local activity beyond membership in Phi Camma Delta. Every new member has met this standard and many have gone far beyond it.
