Q. Why are you making this change? A. We hope this new session structure allows for more flexibility and opportunity to participate in Y swim lessons at the Dancel Y, at a time and frequency that works best for your family.

Q. How do I choose the right swim level? A. You no longer need to guess what swim level is right for you or your child! Just register based on age for our Parent/Child, Preschool, Youth, Teen/Adult or Triathlon swim categories and we’ll take care of the rest! • • • • •

Parent/Child: swim lessons for age 6 months – 3 years Preschool: swim lessons for ages 3 – 5 Youth: swim lessons for ages 6 – 12 Teen/Adult: swim lessons for ages 13 and up Triathlon: swim lessons for competitive swimmers/triathletes age 13 and up

Y swim instructors have been trained to teach multiple levels of instruction, so a Youth class can now have a mixture of beginner, intermediate and advanced participants. The instructor will teach each participant on their individual level. Q. Do you still teach Pike, Polliwog, Guppy, etc. swim levels? A. Yes. Our Parent/Child, Preschool, Youth, Teen/Adult and Triathlon swim categories are all-inclusive of the traditional swim levels you may be familiar with. Participants will still progress from one level to the next and receive report cards indicating which level they’re ready for. The 1st day of each session instructors will assess each child to determine what level of instruction they require. Q. How long are the classes? A. All classes are 30 minutes long. Q. Where can I find the swim lesson schedule so I can register? A. To see swim lesson offerings and to register, go to Easy to Enroll (https://easytoenroll.ymaryland.org/), select ‘Dancel’ as your Center and ‘Swim’ as your Primary Category. If you only want to see a particular swim category, enter Parent/Child, Preschool, Youth, Teen/Adult or Triathlon in the Keyword field. Q. Are all of the programs at the Dancel Y changing to the new session structure? A. No. It’s important to know that this new structure is only for Y swim lessons at Dancel. All other programs at Dancel will continue using the standard 8-week session and registration schedule until further notice. Q. Are other Y Centers using the new swim lesson session structure? A. No. All other Y Centers will continue using the standard 8-week session and registration schedule for all programs until further notice. Q. I have a question the FAQ sheet doesn’t address? Where do I go for the answer? A. Contact the Dancel Y at 410-465-4334.
