Did you know that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime? Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. Each year, over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Lane Bryant has been taking a stand in the fight against breast cancer. This year alone we raised a total of $463,378 between the stores and the home office! Check out below how you and your teammates have been joining the fight!
The Lane Bryant Home Office “Making Strides” team ready to hit the pavement during the Making Strides Walk in Columbus.
Flying flapjacks fundraiser Chris Cakes served up some high-flying fun with their “pancakes with an attitude” on October 17. Everyone had a great time catching (or attempting to catch) their flying pancakes! A total of $1,000 was raised from this fun— and filling—event!

Changing outlooks—inside and out In October, Lane Bryant provided personal shopping and makeover experiences for 37 breast cancer survivors. The events expanded across the entire month by pairing up with select store grand opening celebrations and included swag bags, personal shopping and styling, hair, makeup and car service to and from lunch.
(Wacky) race for a cure The week of October 20, associates donated cash to see which leaders (Marcy Schaffir, Michele Etgen, Stan Lucas, Alice Hilliard and Chris Trinkler) would go head-to-head during a leader race on Friday, October 24. A total of $842 was raised as finalists Alice and Chris battled it out in a wildly funny race involving a crazy outfit, hula hoop, jump rope, bubble gum and a balloon … and Alice was our victor! Congratulations, Alice! And thanks to everyone for contributing to our race for a cure!
Fresh-baked fun Cookies, brownies and pies … oh, my! All these treats and more were served up fresh and tasty during our bake sale on October 7. During our candy grab bag event on October 31, associates filled goody bags of Halloween candy for just $2. Between these two tasty events, we raised $1,407 toward the fight against breast cancer (all while satisfying a sweet tooth or two)!
Who wants a pink bike? CRM Director Cheryl Meade sure would! Cheryl was the happy winner of our pink bike raffle on October 31. “We just moved to the Clintonville area this fall and my husband has a bike but I don’t,” says Cheryl. “So now I have one and will feel ever so stylish tooling around the neighborhood on my pink bike. “It might be a little late for this year, but when the weather allows I’m really looking forward to going for bike rides down to the Park of Roses,” says Cheryl. Congratulations, Cheryl—you definitely look stylish! Associates raised a total of $145 during our pink bike raffle.

Beyond the Dress ... Sandra Spinelli, DMM of Accessories/Footwear, recently helped to organize the donation of three pallets of cacique perfume to Dress for Success, Columbus. “We are so grateful for our partnership with Lane Bryant!” says Dress for Success Contributions Coordinator Michelle King. “Sixty percent of our clients wear sizes 18 and over. Your donations help ensure that our clients are well-suited for their interview or employment wardrobe. “I wish I could share the look on every client’s face when they see themselves in their new outfit—they exude pride and confidence! Thank you for empowering women in our community!” says Michelle.
Mid-Ohio Foodbank: Working for a hunger-free and healthier community
Give a little, get a lot For just a small $4 donation to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank (MOF), you can feast upon a Thanksgiving meal fit for a king (and queen)! Join us for our annual company Thanksgiving lunch on November 18 beginning at noon. Your donation will go a long way to help needy families right here in Central Ohio.
More ways to help Drop off plastic grocery bags and empty egg cartons in the box near Sophie’s Corner by November 18. MOF will put them to good use delivering food to families in our community. Give time Nearly 20 percent of the food received must be sorted and packaged before it’s delivered to people in need. Whether it’s one day a year or a few hours a week, your contributions of time and energy help MOF get food when and where it’s needed most. Visit www.mofb.volunteerhub.com to learn about and sign up for volunteer opportunities. Give money One of the best ways you can help MOF fight hunger is by providing a financial gift. For every $1 given to them by donors, they are able to distribute $10 worth of groceries to people in need. “Mid-Ohio Foodbank makes it so easy for anyone to make an impact,” says Online Creative Marketing Specialist KT Hughes Crandall. “Not only can you volunteer at the pantry itself, but in the summer, you can ‘Plant a Row for the Hungry’ to provide fresh produce. An online donation is an effortless, but thoughtful gift for that hard-to-shop for person on your holiday list. There’s just no wrong way to give, and it all goes to people right here in our community.”
