NEWSLETTER 27TH May 2016 Dear Parents and Guardians,
AVON TYRRELL As I write, twenty-three of our Year 4 children will be returning from five days in the beautiful Hampshire countryside at Avon Tyrrell. They have had a very active and exciting few days, building campfires, taking the steam train from Corfe Castle to Swanage and amongst other things, going bird and dolphin spotting along the cliff paths. This is an annual event for Year 4 children and provides a very valuable experience for all of them.
EAST MERTON SPORTS PARTNERSHIP We are part of the East Merton Sports Partnership and some parents of younger children may not know just how valuable this partnership is to the children. As a result of the partnership, all children are offered a range of sporting activities in which they compete against other local schools. Again as a result of the partnership, we have a number of specialist coaches who come into school to work with the children; all children, including the very youngest, have been introduced to tennis and all children take part in ‘ball skills coaching’.
BUILD A DEN DAY: FRIDAY 17TH JUNE The school is taking part in this national event so all children will be building dens somewhere in school, let’s hope the weather is fine. You will be hearing more about this after half term.
DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT Congratulations to: Seun, Aswath, Diloshan, Navid, Prabhjyot, Vishwa, Apisan, Seliyan M & Abeesan who represented Beecholme in a Dodgeball Tournament at Harris Academy Merton on Thursday 26th May. Ten teams from across the Borough took part in the tournament with Beecholme finishing 5th. Unfortunately one member of the team, Connie Holden, could not take part due to illness on the day.
BIKEABILITY CYCLE TRAINING Congratulations to the children who passed their Level 1 & and/or Level 2 cycle training last week. We were lucky enough to have two experienced cycling instructors with us all week working with year 5 & 6 children.
