C H U R C H Issue 10

We are a group of believers united in Christ for the glory of God & a desire to proclaim Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord in Burlington & to the ends of the earth!

FROM THE PASTOR Dear Children of the Living God, Life in the church is a wonderful blessing! When our Savior Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended to glory, he gave us the church to help us until we make it to heaven. The church provides us with worship, the Scriptures, care, encouragement, and opportunities to serve. The next several weeks in the church are extra-special in some of these areas: Our next two Sundays are Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Our worship themes these next weeks will help us think on the coming of Christ, his sufferings for us, and the benefits of redemption that are ours in Him. Be sure to join us for these special morning worship services. Invite someone as well! The Holy Week Service this Sunday evening at 6 PM in the Sanctuary is also a wonderful time to reflect on the mission of redemption that Christ accomplished for his people. Join us as we read and sing through the stories of God’s mercy in Christ. On Saturday morning, there will be a workday for spring spruce up around the church building. A load of mulch will be delivered - bring your gloves, shovel, and wheelbarrow to make our natural areas look great. Other chores will be available - trimming bushes, cutting back money grass, pruning mums, and neatening our church yard. As always, there are needs inside the building and there are tasks for all skill levels, ages, and time commitments. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful facility - let’s be good stewards of it together. In the area of outreach and advertising, we have been working hard of late to make sure our name and church commitments are known to the community and world. Our signs and banners have helped us use our road frontage well. The church website has also been updated to assist us in letting folks get a picture of who we are. In order to more effectively use our website to accurately portray our church, we are utilizing photographers to help us update our visual display of church life. This Sunday, a two person crew will be here to take pictures of church life. If you do not wish to be in pictures, please let me know. There will be opportunity for us to give approval of final use of pictures and I can assure you that you do not have to be included in pictures. Please give these fellows room to work and they’ve assured us they will be discreet and not disruptive. And, as they say, “act naturally!” Lord-willing, see you in the Lord’s house as we study from Titus 2 &3 - Waiting for Our Blessed Hope.

THE PRAYER NEEDS OF OUR CHURCH FAMILY ~May our love abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. (Philippians 1:9-10, ESV) ~Pray for our church’s growth in grace, as well as our witness to Christ and growth in membership in the Kingdom of God.

-Thank the Lord for bringing visitors to our church. Ask that our fellowship and worship and discipleship would be a bright spot in the community as people seek a church that is God-centered, Christ-exalting and Scripture-saturated. -Ask that God would make us more Godly so that our lives will bear witness to the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ. -Remember in yours prayers our visiting Elon students, including Isaac Sasser. -Ask for God’s grace & wisdom for our young & single members who are searching for relationships & seeking to please God in their lives -Ask for God’s grace & strength for our aging members. The Word Made Flesh, Ligonier Statement on Christology We confess the mystery and wonder of God made flesh and rejoice in our great salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. With the Father and the Holy Spirit, the Son created all things, sustains all things, and makes all things new. Truly God, He became truly man, two natures in one person. He was born of the Virgin Mary and lived among us. Crucified, dead, and buried, He rose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will come again in glory and judgment. For us, He kept the Law, atoned for sin, and satisfied God’s wrath. He took our filthy rags and gave us His righteous robe. He is our Prophet, Priest, and King, building His church, interceding for us, and reigning over all things. Jesus Christ is LORD; we praise His holy Name forever. Amen.
