Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Thanks to the dedication and support of 100,000 amazing volunteers, we are active in every part of the UK, giving girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. Girls can join from age 5, starting at Rainbows, then Brownies covers 7-10 year olds, and Guides from 10 upwards, they enjoy a varied programme of activities and games, aiming to have fun, learn about our community and our world and sharing in the values and experience of Guiding. Being a part of this organisation opens up a world of exciting challenges and the opportunity to try new things and to make brilliant friends. Some of our units in Taunton Central require additional help as we have some leaders that are not available in the autumn, so we need to find some other brilliant adults to join our team of volunteers to ensure the girls continue to access the great opportunites that Girlguiding offers young people. We are keen to find adults who would be able to take on the challenge and, if it is someone who does not have a Guiding qualification already, who would be willing to start the adult leadership training. You will be given help, training and support and will definitely have a lot of fun! Please contact Sandra Verrier, District Commissioner, (tel. 01823 282882) if you have a daughter who is interested to join or if you are interested in starting to help. Adult leaders/helpers will need to be over 18, someone who understands and likes working with children, and who has energy, humour and a positive attitude.
