Solution District Photo standardized on the combination of CommVault® Simpana® software and Nimble Storage CS-Series systems for their environment. This helped them tackle data growth, increase performance needs, back up all their critical data, and improve their recovery point and recovery time objectives. DPI uses CommVault Simpana software to manage the backup process for heterogeneous mix of storage in their environment. Nimble Storage is used as the primary storage for various applications and the backup target for CommVault. DPI is also leveraging the integration between CommVault’s IntelliSnapTM snapshot management and Nimble Storage’s snapshot functionality— enabling them to take and manage native Nimble Storage snapshots from Simpana software.
Benefits DPI was able to standardize on the joint CommVault and Nimble solution for data protection and recovery software and data storage to consolidate their disparate storage and data protection environment. “The CommVault and Nimble Storage combination hits a home run. With Simpana software, DPI gained a powerful, yet easy to use policy engine to alleviate the administrative overhead of managing backups. “Due to [Simpana’s] ability to use scheduled policies for different data types, backing up is a simple as checking on types of agents installed, right clicking and off it goes”
Data recovery was simplified with CommVault’s rich, yet easy-to use functionality combined with Nimble’s efficient performance. “We can teach someone to use CommVault in a day. That along with the speed that Nimble delivers, means we can recover data fast”
Together Nimble compression and CommVault deduplication reduce the data footprint of backups, resulting in a space saving of “90 percent” on average. “The combination of CommVault deduplication and Nimble compression has helped us save significantly versus full copies.”
