! Toys For Hope

November

Toys for Hope is a project started by one of our high school seniors, Elle Rogers, and its all about bringing hope to a child in the Indianapolis area by donating toys. The toys will be gifted to families who are less fortunate to help their children have a great Christmas.

#Selfie Series

We will be taking toy donations until December 1st in the Student Ministries room. We ask that the toys be new and also family friendly.

The U.S. makes up 5% of the worlds population and consumes 40% of the world’s resources. That is crazy. What’s even crazier is the fact that 70% of that happens during the months of November and" December. The Holiday season, leading up to the celebration of the birth of Christ, has been hijacked by the “American Dream.” The story of the most selfless act in history has turned been mutated into an excuse to over-spend, over-eat, over-consume, and under-appreciate on an embarrassingly grand scale. We are all swimming in the American sea of selfishness and consumerism. As Christians, we really need to take some time to ask some tough questions about the way we live. This month’s series, “#SELFIE” is a chance for us to snap a selfie at the way we live, celebrate, and consume as Christians, and ask if that is a picture that looks like Jesus. "

Week 1: ThanksGETTING (Entitlement vs Gratitude) " " Genesis 1-3" Week 2: It Depends (Self Sufficiency vs Dependance) " " Luke 18:15-42" Week 3: God’s Return Policy (Consumerism vs Generosity) " " Matthew 13:1-23" Week 4: Better to Receive (Me vs Mission) " " Mark 8:34"

Engage Spotlight ! Here at E91 Students we believe a student’s faith in Jesus comes to life when it is accompanied with action. The reality is, we live in a lost and hurting world. Jesus calls us to engage lost people with the hope that’s found in Him alone.

A few weekends ago our students had a chance to participate in the Kairos Cookie Bake where they baked over 300 dozen cookies for prisoners to help show them the love of Christ. Two of our small group leaders, Joe Apple and Adam Speicher, organized the event and were able to bring these cookies and some prayer placemats to prisons and shared with them that God loves them and that they are not forgotten. This is such a great picture of bringing hope and love to the lost world around us."

Another service opportunity we have coming up this Sunday Nov. 2nd is raking leaves in our neighboring community at Castlewood. As a church in the neighborhood, we appreciate the opportunity to serve our neighbors. This event is will be a great way to teach our students what it means to engage their community. We will meet in the Student Ministries Room after the 10:45 service and eat lunch together, then walk across the parking lot to Castlewood. All you need to bring in yourself and a rake. If your student or you as a family are interested in helping out with this project, please contact Tiffany or Julio. " E91 Students
