Brief Class Description: Showcase your favorite ocean scenes and then fill your quilt with a school of fish! You have lots of options for this quilt. The sample quilt showcases scenes that were fussy cut from a novelty fabric. Other options include showcasing embroidered blocks, photo transfer blocks, applique blocks. You are limited only by your imagination. Finished quilt size is approximately 60” x 73”. You need: Showcase blocks: Eight (8) 7-inch square blocks. Use any technique you would like to fill these squares. Some options: o Fussy cut novelty fabric o Embroidered blocks o Photo transfer o Applique Fabric: 2/3 yard of medium print fabric (A) for strip at the back of the fish bodies 3/4 yard light print fabric (B) for the fish bodies 1-3/4 yard dark print fabric (C) for triangles in fish tails, small squares, inner border and binding 2-3/4 yard background fabric ¾ yard coordinating print for outer borders 4-3/4 yard coordinating print for backing Batting: Thread:

Pre-Class Work: Wash and iron fabric if desired Cutting Trim showcase blocks if necessary to 7-inch squares. From the medium print fabric (A), cut the following: Over >
Strips on Large Fish: Seven (10) strips 2-5/8” by width of fabric (WOF). Cut each strip in half, yielding 20 strips 2-5/8” x 20”. From the light print fabric (B), cut the following: Large Fish Bodies: Cut two (2) strips 6-5/8” by width of fabric (WOF); recut into ten (10) 65/8” squares. Cut each square in half diagonally, yielding 20 triangles. Small Fish Bodies: Cut four (4) 5-3/8” squares. Cut each square in half diagonally, yielding 8 triangles. From the dark print fabric (C), cut the following: Large Fish Tails: Cut three (3) strips 3-7/8” by width of fabric (WOF); recut into thirty (30) 37/8” squares. Cut squares in half diagonally, yielding 60 triangles. Small Fish Tails: Cut one (1) strip 3-1/8” by width of fabric (WOF); recut into four (4) 3-1/8” squares and one (1) 2-3/4” square. Cut the 3-1/8” squares in half diagonally to yield 8 triangles. Squares in Small Fish Blocks: Cut one (1) strip 2-3/4” by width of fabric (WOF); recut into twenty (15) 2-3/4” squares. With additional block from the previous step, yields 16 squares. From the backing fabric, cut nine (9) 11-inch squares. From the batting, cut nine (9) 11-inch squares.
Also, bring the following: Sewing machine in top running condition* Presser Feet: ¼” foot for piecing, open toe foot for applique, walking for quilting Needles: Universal Scissors Rotary cutter, 45 mm (CTH # 8921115) Rulers: Size is your preference.
