Recruitment: Earlier this fall, our organizations had a very successful showing for recruitment. During fraternity recruitment our men recruited over 220 young men to join. Also, our women recruited close to 400 women to join the ranks of our wonderful sororities here at UNCC. Great work everyone! Presidents Ball: As the semester comes to a close, please thank your outgoing executive boards and officers who have devoted the last year to serving your organizations, especially your presidents. To honor these presidents and council executive boards, we will be having our annual President’s Ball, this Thursday. Program Spotlight: Sigma Phi Epsilon Shave-A-SigEp was a unique fundraising event in the name of Jack Bretz, a brother of the NC Nu Chapter of UNCC, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in August. This Fall, the brothers rallied behind this special event by volunteering to have their head shaved if the Charlotte community could raise their individual donation pledges. The success of this event was immense. After collecting online donations, as well as, cash and check donations, the chapter raised over $7000 for the American Cancer Society in Jack’s name. The NC Nu chapter received national recognition and support from Sig Ep chapters all over the nation, including a personal visit from Grand President , Phil Cox. This was truly a great day for Jack Bretz, and his brothers who stood by his side. This event was a testament to the enduring strength of the brotherhood of our Sigma Phi Episilon chapter, here at UNCC.

Inaugural Football Season This Fall marked the first year of UNCC College Football. It was an exciting semester of tailgating and football for all of our students, but especially for us Greeks!

Program Spotlight: Alpha Delta Pi Each Fall semester, Alpha Delta Pi hosted their annual Boot Scootin’ BBQ. This year, on October 19th, the women of Alpha Delta Pi raised close to $11,000 benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte. This non-profit organization provides thousands of families, each year, with health and wellness programs, educational support for children, nightly family meals, and family-friendly activities for children who are receiving vital medical treatment at our Charlotte medical facilities. ADPi raised money by collecting donations from students, parents, and members of the community, by selling tickets for BBQ and by selling event t-shirts. Great job ladies!

New Greek Organizations: GAMMA & TELOS GAMMA stands for Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol. GAMMA works collaboratively with the Wellness Resource Center. GAMMA is composed of Greek students who are interested in issues related to responsible alcohol use. Led by Katherine Winchester, GAMMA serves to provide events and fun activities to educate Greeks about responsible alcohol use and consumption. TELOS is a innovative program starting at UNCC targeted at graduating Greeks providing education on ways to stay involved, how to be a proper alumni/alumnae, and how to interact with and serve the chapter once graduated.
