Welcome to the Building on Strengths enewsletter! We hope that you will enjoy this monthly look at our progress towards the completion of our new academic building and a successful fundraising campaign. Building on Strengths is a $5.5 million capital campaign to construct a new academic building that will increase academic, arts, electives, and collaborative spaces, and grow the endowment to provide stable long-term support for the maintenance of the new building. Building on Strengths Campaign kicks off in style On September 30th, close to 200 parents, alumni, families, faculty, and friends convened on campus for the official Building on Strengths Kickoff. The theme was "TNCS Under Construction", and many of our guests showed up dressed for work! Guests enjoyed food, drink, and great conversation, then heard a few words from faculty, students, alumni, and friends about the impact of the new building and the campaign on the present and future of the school.

Cabell Foundation announces $200,000 Building on Strengths Challenge
Building on Strengths has benefitted from the extraordinary generosity of more than 120 donors, with a total of $4,483,864 raised to date. That total was given a big boost when it was announced that the Cabell Foundation has made a $200,000 challenge grant to TNCS, in support of Building on Strengths. This Fall, every gift to the Campaign will be matched dollar for dollar by the Cabell Foundation, up to $200,000. “This is an incredible opportunity for our school, and we need community support to make this a reality,” says Head of School Nancy Foy. “We encourage our TNCS family and friends to help us raise $200,000 in new gifts in order to receive this grant."
Construction Update Work on the new building is proceeding quickly! After the demolition of The Rancher in early June, there was significant work done on the construction site over the summer. By August, the footings were poured and the steel had begun to rise. Students returned to see a building well under way. On September 12, the last piece of steel went into place, signed by our faculty and a few good friends of
the school. Just this week the concrete trucks arrived to pour the floors on the first and second floors. Hourigan Construction estimated that we will have the walls raised and be under roof by the end of November.
