OPENINGS FOR POSDOCTORAL POSITIONS AT UBC The laboratory of Thibault Mayor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver is looking for three motivated candidates for postdoc positions. The major focus of this research team is to elucidate how misfolded proteins are targeted for degradation by the ubiquitin proteasome system and how proteostasis is maintained in the cell. In particular, the lab is currently trying to develop new proteomics approaches to probe changes in proteostasis, and to both identify and characterize novel protein quality control pathways mediated by ubiquitin ligases. Several of the new projects will be in collaboration with the laboratory of Joerg Gsponer that uses computational approaches. The lab is funded by both the CIHR and NSERC and is integrated in the Michael Smith Laboratories, a well-equipped research facility providing stimulating grounds for scientific progress in an international, multidisciplinary research environment. Candidates are expected to be a motivated team player who fits into a multidisciplinary research environment. Candidates should have recently or nearly completed their PhD, have a solid track record for their career stage with at least one first author research publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and have a background in biochemistry, molecular biology and/or cell biology. Experience in mass spectrometry proteomics or computational sciences is required for two of the positions. Please submit your application to Thibault Mayor (
[email protected]) with a curriculum vitae (including scientific publications, posters and talks) and brief research statement interest with a summary of PhD work. The positions are available from fall 2016. Please also visit: www.postdocs.ubc.ca/ www.chibi.ubc.ca/faculty/thibault-mayor/mayor-lab/
