In April of 2010, the theme, “For the Sake of His Name to the Nations” was presented to our church body in an attempt to biblically articulate why we do what we do in missions and what missions is ultimately all about. With this theme as our foundation, the challenge was also put forward that, as a church, Calvary was going to put a renewed emphasis on “Partnering Together in the Gospel” with our missionary families through intentional interaction and strategic partnership so that our missionary families are genuinely cared for and encouraged by our church family. This small pamphlet is designed to help you understand a little more about how we do missions here at Calvary. If you have specific questions after you read this, please feel free to contact Pastor Troy at

Our Mission
To glorify God by active participation in the global advancement of the Gospel through our local church...“for the sake of His name among all the nations” (Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 1:5). * Our active participation will be through strategic partnership with selected missionaries—by means of financial, relational, and spiritual support—who share our passion and philosophy of ministry.
Our Philosophy of Missions
In an effort to carry out our mission, Calvary Baptist Church has as its primary focus the ministry of global church planting. We believe, as demonstrated in the book of Acts and the Epistles, that God has clearly chosen the church as His primary instrument in this age to make known “the manifold wisdom of God” (Eph. 3:10). So, the thrust of our missions ministry, both within the United States and abroad, is to participate in the establishment of gospel-focused, Christ-centered, indigenous local assemblies led by trained national pastors.
Our Governing Principles (1) Spiritual Integrity—
It is our desire to only partner with missionaries who demonstrate the character and ministry qualifications required of men in positions of spiritual leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
(2) Doctrinal Harmony— It is our desire to partner with missionaries whose doctrinal position is in harmony with the doctrinal position of Calvary Baptist Church. The doctrinal position of Calvary is posted on our website at www.calvarylansdale.org. (3) Local-church Emphasis— It is our desire to partner with missionaries whose passion and vision is the work of planting and/or revitalizing of indigenous, nationally-led churches and/or whose passion and vision ultimately supports the work of planting indigenous, nationally-led churches (Ephesians 3:7-10). (4) Relational Connectedness—
It is our desire to partner with missionaries with whom we have an established, growing relationship or with those who have a desire to develop and maintain a strong relationship with us as a sending and/or supporting church (Philippians 1:3-8; 4:14-19).
Our Giving Calvary has adopted a Missions giving structure called “Grace Giving” to help us support our missionary family around the world and church-planting endeavors in the United States. Our Missions budget is funded through the sacrificial and generous giving of God’s people. We believe all Christians should take part in supporting the global advancement of the Gospel. God has blessed us so that His saving power can be known among all nations.
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah; that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.” —Psalm 67:1-2
