Hope for Houston and all Texans Hello, my name is Presleigh Seitz, and I’m in 8th grade at OLA. As we all know, Texas was hit by a very powerful hurricane that ruined many families’ homes, so many people lost everything. I have been in touch with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and School in The Woodlands, Texas. They are helping to provide food and clothing to the many shelters. As part of my service project for my eighth grade year, I would like to help the children staying in the shelters. I am collecting new or gently used books, games, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, cards, and other activities to help the children have fun while they wait. I was also informed that individually wrapped snacks (goldfish, fruit snacks, Pirate’s Booty, granola bars, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. In addition, I would like to ask each OLA student to write a “Letter of Hope” to the children of Texas. These will let the children know that we are praying for them and their families. Once I have collected everything, I will be able to ship all the items directly to St. Anthony’s Parish staff, who will distribute them to all the children. They will also share the letters and prayers. I will leave a basket in the school office for donations and will also collect at morning drop-off in both parking lots between 7:15 and 7:55 a.m. OLA’s Youth Group will be helping me collect on those mornings. We will be collecting starting Tuesday, September 5th until Friday, September 8th. You can also email me or my parents at [email protected] to make other arrangements for drop-off. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Presleigh Seitz
