Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Missions
Slovakia Our Saviour's collaborates with two organizations in Slovakia: Holy Spirit Lutheran Church: in Nitra Slovakia, where we helped with financial support and work trips to build a new church. The original church was confiscated by the communist regime and destroyed. The new church was completed and consecrated in 2000, and therefore our work with Holy Spirit is mostly done. We visit annually and help with certain financial needs from time to time. The Center for Christian Education (CCE): in Martin Slovakia, where we are helping to return the Word of God to the people after communism. Religion was severely curtailed during the Russian occupation and two generations were lost to Christ. Through Christian education, the CCE is restoring hope to the people and teaching them about Jesus and his teachings and their call to serve others. We have been assisting the CCE with financial support, builder trips, and prayer support since 1998. Today they operate a Kindergarten, Elementary School, High School, and a college with bachelors and masters’ degree programs and adult continuing education. We continue today helping them complete and expand their Lutheran Academy. Their guiding scripture is from John 8:32, "...we want to motivate people to know the truth so that they can become free in Christ to serve others..." This great ministry is 100% aligned with Our Saviour's Mission To Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known! Volunteer Opportunities: Builders Trips: Annual trips to Slovakia during the summer. Annual Slovak Dinner: Held in January at Celebration Ribfest Car Parking: Usually on July 4 (fund raising) at Celebration. Summer Picnic and Concert: (fund raising and celebrating) at Celebration. Insight Trip: New in October 2014 designed to visit the CCE in Slovakia to get an in-depth understanding of the ministry, and will also include a trip to Germany to Walk in the "Footsteps of Martin Luther".
