HEALTHWATCH

The new consumer champion for health and social care. Healthwatch tells the providers of health and social care services about people’s experiences of using them and holds them to account at local and national levels.

MY HEALTH, MY WAY

A support service that aims to help people overcome the challenges they face if they have a limiting health condition or disability. Our Health Coaches provide non clinical support to help remove barriers and enabling people to get to grips with their health and wellbeing and enjoy life again.

A vital helpline for anyone with a support need. People can access a wide range of information, advice and support services by telephone or email.

Our Social Enterprises that provide a one stop shop for all home repairs and gardening carried out by trusted tradespeople. ROOTs provides volunteering opportunities that helps change lives for people who are in recovery or affected by a disability or limiting health condition.

Works for positive change for older people. Champions and Wayfinders work with older people in their communities to identify needs and opportunities for change. Wayfinders have a wealth of knowledge and information to help people access the support they need, when they need it.

COMMUNITY WORKS

Our Volunteer Service assists older people with a wide range of tasks from accessing transport to essential appointments to personalised support enabling people to participate in new activities.

TELEPHONE SUPPORT SERVICE Our specially trained volunteers and staff keep in touch with people who use our services to provide essential information and support as required.

CARERS

We provide a range of support services to carers in Dorset including short breaks. Our services are a lifeline to many carers who otherwise would not be able manage.

VISITS TO WEBSITE

Our website provides masses of useful information on line, 24 hours a day to anyone in need of health and social care services. It includes a wide range of factsheets which can be down loaded or posted.

Help and Care is an independent charity working with older people, people with disabilities and carers of all ages to help people be as independent and happy as possible. Since 1985 we have been listening to and acting on the concerns and issues raised by them and their family members. This has led to the development of a wide range of support, information and advice services. Help and Care helps people and communities to live the lives they choose and this is how we have been doing this ….
