P 5800, Quimsa Cruz, 1976. A five-woman party, consisting of Taeko N oda, leader, M ieko N agahata, M itsuko Araki, Eriko M atsuda and Yoshiko Y am agata climbed a 5800-m eter (19,029-foot) peak in the Quimsa Cruz. T he peak lies southwest of N evado A torom a and west of Lago O ctacota and the settlem ent of M allachum a. They arrived at La Paz on M ay 29, 1976 and traveled by jeep to M allachum a. They climbed the m ountain in three days. A fter the climb, all w ent to the Cordillera Blanca of Peru, w here they trekked. T
