What is Camp Stronghold? Camp Stronghold is a Presbyterian camp located in Oregon, IL along the Rock river just south of Rockford. Originally the camp property was owned by the Walter Strong family of Chicago. Mr. Strong was the owner of the Chicago Daily News. Many of his newspaper peers had built lavish homes including the “Hearst” castle in California. Not to be outdone, Mr. Strong purchased the 360 plus acres along the Rock river and built a castle himself in 1930. The Castle included 16 bedrooms, 9 baths and swimming pool, The Strong’s sold the property to the Presbyterian Church in 1962 for their summer camp programs.

1985 the relationship with Camp Stronghold was established and BASIC has continued to host ever since. Last year 38 junior high students were able to experience what has come to be known as “The Greatest Week of Your Life” at Camp Stronghold. So what exactly happens at Camp Stronghold? Each evening we will hear a message from our guest speaker (Matt Moore) relevant to every junior high student. Our days will be spent in small group Bible studies, large group singing, great day and night games, hilarious skits presented by the B.A.S.I.C. Leaders, swimming, and many other unbelievable activities.

Parents….ever wonder what a day at Camp Stronghold is like? We invite any Dad’s and Mom’s who would like to spend some time at camp to join us! Your responsibility will be to provide a second adult in the sleeping cabins/ rooms each night at camp. When you are not sleeping with the kids you will have plenty of time to rest, relax, read good book or hang out with BASIC staff and students. If you can only volunteer a couple of days….GREAT! The cost for you to attend is FREE! Contact Randy is interested.
Details...... Dates: June 3 - 8 (Sunday - Friday) Time: Sunday 12:00(noon) Friday 4:00 COST: $425.00
Scholarships are available ........Talk with Randy Hausler We will be doing fundraisers to reduce camp costs!!
PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
During the week at Camp Stronghold we will also be traveling to Rockford, IL for an afternoon at “Magic Waters” water park. “Magic Waters” has many water slides, chutes, a wave pool and lots of other fun water activities. We will also be going to a Go-Cart Track during the week of camp.
The cost of camp includes: Transportation, Food, Lodging, a one of kind T-Shirt, Magic Waters Waterpark and The Greatest Week Of Your Life!
