Existing/Under Construction/Proposed
Not identified in the above table: 81 Beds to be demolished with approval and construction of 3rd and Center 98 beds in Peppermill Apartments to be demolished with approval and construction of 8Four8 Mitchell. By Fall 2019, approximately a total of 10,500 (beds) will be ready to be leased out.
Other Trends:
2016-2017: global enrollment is 58,664 Approximately 40% of enrolled students take some or all of their courses online. By Fall 2019, it is predicted that 50% of all college courses will be delivered online. While students taking online courses could do so from anywhere, many will still remain highly motivated to live on or close to campus. Transfer and graduate students are the fastest growing segments in student population.
Estimated Housing Demand
2017: fall enrollment (excluding online) is approx. 40,276
2020: Projections shows approx. 43,000 enrollment
Over 7,500 (19%) students live in student-oriented communities (UTArlington and Private) + many additional in MF properties located in Central/North Arlington.
If the same trend continues, approx. 8,200 students will be living in student-oriented housing in Arlington.
Fall 2019: If all four pending projects shown on the previous slide are constructed, 10,500 beds will be ready to be leased out. However, it is difficult to assess if this means over-supply of housing, since it is very possible that students (who are currently living in MF properties in Central/North Arlington) may want to move closer to campus and in newer student-oriented housing developments.
