TIME CAPSULE FOUND! A time capsule was found buried under the main  tower at the playground. Stout Excavating came  across the time capsule while taking the  playground down. Unfortunately, it was in PVC  plastic pipe in which the end cap cracked, and  water got into the materials inside.

WHY DO WE

NEED A NEW PLAYGROUND???

AN AMAZINGLY SUCCESSFUL PROJECT!

The Kiwanis Bob Tuck Playground at Christmas Run is Wayne County’s largest playground and a regional destination!

Christmas Run has over 1,000 visitors each week and is within 2,500-ft of two elementary schools.

Existing 8,600ft2 structure has served Wayne County for over 20 years.

Having exceeded its useful life, base is now deteriorating. Temporary closure in 2014 to perform repairs. Dramatically increased maintenance needs.

THE NEED FOR THE FUTURE

Structure must be removed in order to repair broken waterline underneath

ADA Lawsuit against City cites playground is no longer compliant with federal law. A new and accessible playground will welcome all children.
