Mentor helping the children prepare charts to decorate the class for the on going theme! Just look at the result!

Pitter patter raindrops! The ‘Rainy’ theme is going on in the class. To give the feel of the rainy season the children and the mentors put in their collaborative efforts to make charts and posters to decorate the class. The children enjoyed dabbing blue color on the chart paper to create a rainy season theme. Activities like dabbing help the

children develop their fine motor muscles which results in a better grip on pencil. Things made for the classroom by the children also makes them develop a sense of belongingness to the class and nurtures the feelings of ownership. The children also discussed the importance of preserving their own work by taking care of the class property.

It’s yummy, mummy… During the ‘Rainy’ theme the children learned not only about water and rains but they also explored the food that is eaten during the rainy season. To give some hands on and live exposure, the class went to the ‘Reliance fresh’ to see vegetables and fruits. After their field trip to ‘Reliance fresh’ the children reflected their learning with the help of drawings and discussed about the various fruits and vegetables which are commonly seen during the rainy season. As a closure to the sub-theme of rainy food, the children had brought their favourite vegetable from home in their lunch boxes. They had a marvelous time eating and sharing their food. They also talked about the vegetable that they had got from home. The children developed skills of public speaking and also learned the soft skill of sharing with their peers through this activity.

Children enjoying home- made food with their friends!

Oh wow!! It’s story time!! Irrespective of the theme going on in the class, we always have lots of stories to share. With a beautifully designed story corner in the classroom, the children keep asking for stories to be told during their choice time. Being able to set their own agenda during this time helps them develop their decision making and also gives them a feeling of independence. The shining faces of the children while listening to a story are a treat to watch!!

And there is more to happen… Hope you enjoyed reading!

Thank you PP1 Mentor Saima Hashmi
