Pittsburg State University Intramural Sports Tennis Rules Eligibility: All members of the PSU community are eligible to participate. **For indoor activities you must have a valid membership to the SRC. Please refer to the Intramural Sports Handbook prior to filling out the team roster. LEAGUES/DIVISIONS: Men’s & Women’s singles/doubles & Mixed doubles. FACILITY: Tennis courts located south of the Weede gymnasium. SCHEDULING: Double Elimination Tournament, Days of Play Monday – Thursday. PLAYOFF FORMAT: (See above). ROSTER MANAGEMENT: All rosters shall be completed and turned in by the registration deadline. Score Sheet: Prior to each game, both teams listed on the schedule should check-in with the IM Supervisor and will be assigned a court. When checking in, teams must clarify to the IM Supervisor who will be playing in what match. Match Play: Matches will be played on the Weede tennis courts. The scheduled times for teams to play will be posted on the web. Teams are expected to show up at their scheduled time! There will be a five (5) minute ‘grace period.’ After this time, the match(s) will be considered a forfeit. Claiming a Forfeit: The team present and "ready to play" after the five (5) minute period, the game is scheduled to start, may claim a win by forfeit by recording their lineup, and stating "forfeit" on the official scorecard. Officials: There will be no officials for tennis. Tennis matches will be self-officiated. Rules of the USTA should be followed. It is suggested that any disagreement be determined by a replay of point. Attire Shoes: Players must wear appropriate tennis shoes. NO BARE FEET, sandals, crocks or other types of shoes will be allowed. Game Regulations- Standard USTA rules will apply with these PSU Intramural modifications. Game Play: A match will be made up of 1 set first to 6 games OR a 55 minute period (with a 5 minute warm-up). Standard scoring will apply 15-30-40-game. Each court will report their scores to the IM Supervisor after each match. If matches have begun, once an individual/team has won three or more games, and if the match was called due to inclement weather, then the individual/team that has won three or more games is the official winner.
